Wow another new series introduction that says it all and sets the new tone in a very small amount of time. The focus has now shifted again from the plight of Mainframe to Enzo Andraia and Frisket's journey through the games and systems unknown throughout the net on a quest to find Bob and get back home again that has clearly taken them years, for they are now both adults and are completely different people. But this show is so darn good that even when taken completely out of its usual settings and away from practically all familiar characters, it's still just as compelling, visually captivating and fun to watch, and that was a subtle strength of Reboot that shouldn't be underestimated. I'm not gonna lie though, it's not totally un-bizarre seeing characters who were little kids one episode ago transformed into a sexy tough warrior woman and a trigger-happy aggressive burly man with a robotic eye who destroys enemies without hesitation - and it's Matrix now, the innocent plucky young sprite that was Enzo is long gone, sacrificed on the alter of survival and vengeance, and apparently now mercy is for the weak!!! That is definitely Paul Dobson doing the voice of Matrix, I distinctly remember his manly resonant tones from another top series called Shadow Raiders! When he executes the praying mantis-like virus despite it being tame in terms of what you see, the tone of it somehow makes it seem like one of the more darker and graphic instances in the show. I swear that sh**ty censoring has always done more harm than good by shielding people and kids from reality. I am so glad that we got to have a Reboot with more realistically-proportioned female characters, gritty fights, harsher consequences and an overall more mature and darker story-line that in the long run, just lit up the world of the show and brought it to life in a way so much better than before. So after winning their latest game in which they appear as the aliens from the terrible Tim Burton movie "Mars Attacks!", Matrix and Andraia and a Frisket who hasn't aged a day emerge in a severely damaged system that can't take many more game cubes winning, and meet a rag-tag group of binomes and one weird-looking spirited robot sprite boy who's happy-go-lucky attitude greatly irks Matrix because obviously it reminds him of the more joyful and brave kid that he used to be, and they help them all learn to fight in and beat a game for themselves that has nods to Conan Xena and Braveheart, and then Matrix and Andraia leave them to begin repairing their own system as they depart with the game for new adventures. This is a good episode that does a good job of introducing you to new versions of characters and the very new direction the story is going in for a while. Still a classic, and always fun.
