Solid episode
chunkylefunga9 December 2021
I mean it's clear to see now Larry David's impact on the show.

Every episode he appears in is a strong episode and this is arguable one of his best.

Funny episode, with just enough absurdity to be true.

George Ruins Lunch
Samuel-Shovel3 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
In "The Calzone", Jerry is dating a woman who can get anything she wants in any situation. He uses it to get tickets to sold out movies and to get out of speeding tickets. George starts eating lunch each day with Mr. Steinbrenner. They get calzones from the same restaurant everyday. But this becomes a problem when George is wrongly accused of stealing from the tip charge when, in actuality, he's trying to re-tip with the same money so that they notice his good deed. Kramer starts putting his clothes in the dryer every day for that warm feel. He uses Jerry's oven to save money on quarters. Elaine gets tricked into dating a guy who keeps losing bets on purpose so he can spend time with her.

Oh this one is just great! It feels a bit like a George-centric episode which I'm always a big fan of. It's got a nice bit part from Newman, a hair-brain scheme from Kramer, and Jerry torpedoing his 10,000th relationship. This also might be the most we ever see Steinbrenner on-screen in any one episode. The jokes all land, all the individual storylines are great. There's nothing to complain about with this one.

Funny episode.
TOMNEL27 January 2007
This is a really great episode, all except for the Kramer plot which is amusing, but a little bit silly. In this episode, George becomes Steinbrener's pet when he lets him have a taste of his calzone, and they begin eating calzones every day for lunch. Elaine in this episode, is dating a man who won't say that they are going out, but takes her on dates, and has found a dating loophole. Kramer has a lot of change and is cooking his shirts in ovens. The Jerry plot is very small and deals with him getting Cuban cigars from Elaine's boyfriend. This is a really funny episode, and has some really great moments, like George Steinbrener's extremely long and silly speeches. Though this is not a perfect episode, it is really good episode.

My rating: Excellent episode. 30 mins. TVPG

What the hell....

Warning: Spoilers
I don't recall hearing this phrase so much in other episodes, used a few times here which highlights just how absurd and ridiculous this episode was, my favorite. Kramer's involvement that started with a silly innocent desire for freshly dried clothes to failing to help George's desperate effort to get Steinbrenner his calzones (after George is banned for *stealing* from the tip jar), to paying back Elaine's conman date with a pillowcase of coins. And Jerry's blonde date can get tickets to a sold-out show or save Jerry from a heinous speeding ticket. And we even get a glimpse into Newman's dark side. "What do I know about a cookin' a shirt?!" "Why can't you do that in your oven? I'm baking a pie!" *Chef's kiss*

George Never Thinks Ahead
Hitchcoc1 March 2023
George continues to work for the Yankees in a fairly high position. He manages to get on George Steinbrenner's good side by sharing a Calzone with him. He is then expected to bring him one every day. But George can't get past the small things and be happy. He is annoyed by a tip jar on the counter of the Calzone place. The guy doesn't see him put the tip in and so he tries to retrieve it and put it in again in front of the guy. Of course, the guy thinks he is stealing from the tip jar and bans him for eternity. So because of his stupidity he has cut his own throat. Other plot elements concern a young woman who can get anything she wants by looking into the eyes of people. The third is Kramer using the oven to warm up his shirts. Don't ask. Great episode.

TODD GACK second best name on Seinfeld. The Best was ALEC BEEEEEEERG
ThunderKing613 March 2023
Mh... Calzone.... *Drools*

This review was typed on March 13th of the year 2023rd.

What was this episode about?: George get the Yankee Boss hooked on a pizza patty. George becomes his hook up.

Kramer wamrs up a shirt. I kid you not.

Elaine is dubbed AND tricked by a TODD GACK to go out on dates.

Jerry dates a bomb shell that has magical powers

Story and Production: A fun busy story. Elaine's story was interesting only because of TODD GACK and his schemes.

Jerry's girlfriend storyline had fun bits. I am not a fan of the superfast scenes. In seasons 1 to 6 they took their time. By 7 to 9 many scenes were just too fast and the scene transition music can sometimes get annoying.

Overall a Dlish of an episode.

Highlight: the name TODD GACK. Jerry's bombshell, Kramer counting his change, Elaines loophole boyfriend... Newman scene.

Laugh Meter: 9

Villain: TODD GACK because he was slimy.

Girlfriend Attractiveness Level: niki was a 10. However, i ain't a simp... I play hard to get.

What can be learned?: Remember to tip?

Verdict: D-Lish Pizza Patty.

George and the truth
safenoe8 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
George speaks the truth in The Calzone, when he seeks to demonstrate his tipping generosity at the calzone store, and gets into hot water, and it reminded me of when George was justifiably infuriated when his date took credit for buying the big salad for Elaine, when it was George who paid for it.

I loved the Dustin Hoffman in Star Wars sub-plot was funny and it was about a date. Anyway, I'm enjoying rewatching Seinfeld after having first watched it when it debuted in the 1990s, and it lives on that's for sure. I sometimes wonder if the scenes outside the studio are watched by those in the studio audience.

I like the bit where the ending was funny, but I won't spoil it for any non-''Sein-Fans.'' Kramer is the funniest character on the show, which isn't sayin' much when it comes to the show. The guess star whose role was the in-store calzone store guy was really funny too. Larry David as fake George ''Big Stein'' Steinbrenner is just annoying. Thank God this was Larry David's last season.
