British States

The group lands on a world where America lost the revolutionary war, which caused other revolutionary wars to never occur. The Brits control most of the world and are at war with France. Professor Arturo's alternate is the sheriff of San Francisco. He is a cross between the Sheriff of Nottingham and a conservative politician. He even referenced a contract with America, which was a popular concept during the 1990s. Law and order was always on the tongue of the Sheriff, even though in typical conservative fashion, he didn't practice what he preached. This was a pretty good episode. If I were Wade, I would have been tempted to stay and become royalty. I loved the ending, and I think you will, too!

A Bit of Stale Crumpet

Get your pinkies out for this one. It's the land of the Brits and the peasants are getting restless.

Yet again we have another episode with oppressors and an underground resistance movement. I'm so sick of this plot line. We got the same with communists in the pilot & the health authorities in Fever. Boring boring.

I hope the show stops trying to do these political episodes. The themes they cover are ridiculously superficial. The idea that you can fix an ingrained ideology with a short stopover is just headshakingly nonsensical.

We also get completely pointless and boring subplots with a romance angle for Quinn with a rebel and Wade with the prince. Totally unnecessary.

There are a few chuckles to be had at the expense of British stereotypes, but overall it's a snoozefest.

Prince of Wails

The Sliders team land in the British States of America. It is a timeline where America did not gain independence.

The sheriff of San Francisco running this colony is the exact double of Arturo. The dastardly sheriff wants to usurp the role of the rather dozy Prince Harold III.

Arturo finds himself impersonating the sheriff to save Quinn. The prince joins up with an underground group who want democracy and they show the prince of the inequalities they live under.

It is very much a similar story from the pilot. An underground group wanting to overthrow the existing establishment. This time replace the Russian communists with British imperialists. This one was more humorous and fluffy but it also indicates that there are a lack of creative ideas.

I think with John Rhys Davies also playing the sheriff as a Rush Limbaugh type neo con. I think someone was mocking the actor's politics.

Shame they went for the over the top

Warning: Spoilers
The premise that the British won the revolutionary war could of been quite an interesting one it is a shame they decided to make it into an over the top Robin Hood type story complete with a Sheriff of Nottingham (San Francisco in this case).
