  Pete Ross : [Clark finds a ring box with the kryptonite ring inside]  Clark, don't do it. When you put that ring on, you're not yourself.

  Clark Kent : Exactly who I don't want to be right now, Pete.

• Lana Lang : Clark, where are you going?

  Clark Kent : Away from here.

  Lana Lang : The Clark Kent I know wouldn't run away from his problems.

  Clark Kent : The Clark Kent you know is a LIE.

  Lana Lang : Why won't you let me in?

  Clark Kent : Because Lana, you won't like what you see.

  Lana Lang : [In tears]  I am not giving up on you. Your parents need you. I NEED you... I love you Clark.

  Clark Kent : I love you too... more than you'll ever know. That's why I have to leave.

  Clark Kent : [Clark puts on the Red Kryptonite ring as the energy pulsates from his arm to his eyes and they glow red and turns to Lana]  Come with me.

  Lana Lang : Smallville's my home. It's your home too.

  Clark Kent : Not anymore.

  [Clark rides off leaving Lana completely heartbroken] 

• Clark Kent : How is she?

  Jonathan Kent : Doctors don't know yet. What did you do, Clark?

  Clark Kent : I stole Lionel's krypyonite key. I put it in the ship.

  Jonathan Kent : Why did you do that?

  Clark Kent : Dad, I lied about the voice. It did come back. It told me I had to leave by noon. I didn't have a choice, dad. I had to destroy the ship.

  Jonathan Kent : Why didn't you tell us?

  Clark Kent : I knew you wouldn't agree with what I did. Dad, I didn't want it to take me away from you. I'm so sorry for what I did.

  Jonathan Kent : Your actions have consequences, Clark. Didn't your mother and I ever teach you that?

  Clark Kent : Yes.

  Jonathan Kent : But there's no time for excuses, Clark. It's too late. You didn't think this thing through. You... had no idea what was gonna happen, and now... now your mother is lying in a hospital bed.

• Lana Lang : [Standing at the top of the loft as Clark enters]  Why aren't you dressed?

  Clark Kent : [In utter amazement of Lana's beauty]  Wow.

  Lana Lang : [Walking up the stairs Clark hides the Kryptonite key under some blankets and Lana walks to him with his tux in hand]  Here.

  Clark Kent : I have to do something first.

  Lana Lang : What is it?

  Clark Kent : I can't tell you.

  [He puts his arms around her and holds her close] 

  Clark Kent : Just know I'm doing this for us and our future.

  Lana Lang : The last time someone said that to me he went off to war.

  [They embrace] 

  Clark Kent : You should go. I'll meet you there.

  [She walks down the stairs] 

  Clark Kent : Lana.

  [She turns to look at him on the steps in the loft] 

  Clark Kent : I just wanted to remember this moment.

  [She smiles with a tear in her eye and turns and walks out of the loft]
