The Protector becomes the Adversary
Rcwilkinson1234 December 2007
The intended talisman of a Kryptonian weapon becomes the man that Clark must stop in this average episode of the season.

Lionel Luthor, Professor Willowbrook, and Willowbrook's special student Jeremiah Holdsclaw, the future chief of the Kawache tribe, are in the cave exploring what it can do when the cave produces a long Kryptonian knife. Winding in the hands of Jeremiah, Jeremiah acquires the abilities of a Kryptonian and sends Lionel crashing on the ground on his way to rule others and destroy the enemy that the blade is intended to kill. Professor Willowbrook tells Clark that Jeremiah was empowered because he is intended to be the protector of the weapon until Naman (Clark) can get it to destroy his nemesis. However, the new powers that he has corrupts Jeremiah. Jeremiah is convinced that the enemy is Lionel, that Clark is a false prophet, and a good finish to the episode is the result.

The story of this episode is really interesting, but the actor who plays Jeremiah is quite frankly a fairly awful actor. For that reason alone, the episode merits an "8" rating, rather than a "9."

The Prophecy is Coming True
claudio_carvalho17 May 2006
Lionel Luthor calls Professor Joseph Willoebrook (Gordon Tootoosis) to the Kawatche caves to show a recently found ancient object. Professor Willoebrook brings his assistant Jeremiah Holdsclaw (Nathaniel Arcand), who takes the relic from the hands of Lionel. It transforms in a knife and makes Jeremiah as powerful as Clark. He runs away from Lionel's security men with the mythic knife. Professor Willoebrook insists that Clark Kent is Namam, the man who fell from the stars, and in accordance with the Indian prophecy, that knife belongs to him and could be destroyed only by his greatest enemy. Meanwhile, Lana Lang decides to move to Paris.

"Talisman" is a reasonable episode of Smallville. The story is based on the Indian prophecy, and the greatest enemy of Namam is shown in the very end. The always undecided Lana Lang seems to have finally decided to move to Paris. Amen, since I hate this character. Pete Ross finds that his parents are divorcing and becomes very upset. My vote is eight.

Season back to lighter storylines.
m-4782611 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
And the overall arc in general. Memoria is season 3 at its darkest. It's the characters study we've been waiting for. With a remarkable acting and formidable tear jerker moments. But can be too overwhelming to some. I loved it, it's hands down one of the best Smallville episodes. Talisman brings back the Native American stories into the plot. And more Lana drama, foreshadowing her future love story with Lex. Which I predicted since season one. I'm not very keen on the idea they are trying to make her character a Joey Potter clone, with the whole Paris art school sub plot, and recurring indecisiveness. But she's still not as annoying as some fans make her out to be, to me. Chloe however, completely redeemed herself. And now I think her character's assassination last season, is mainly one of the reasons I dislike season 2 so much. I tried, but I can't seem to see the point in Pete lately. Especially when him revealing his feelings for Chloe in Truth, has so little impact on the script... There are still some interesting twists and revelations, but it's clearly an episode made to blow off some steam, after the previously heavy handed drama and upcoming shocking season finale.

The Indians return....joy to all...
PUstrontium2 February 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Outline: Lionel and his team in the caves find an ancient artifact. Calling the Professor Willoebrook(Kyla's grandpa), Lionel hopes to figure out what it is. The professor brings a tribemate, Jeremiah, and he breaks the artifact revealing a knife, and with this, he gains abilities equal to Clark's. After a whole bunch of run around, Clark ends up battling Jeremiah, and gets stabbed by the sword. The Kents find him, and when Jonathan puts his hands on his chest to stop the bleeding, a glow appears and he heals Clark. He once again fights Jeremiah, this time causing his to drop the knife, and send him into a coma. The Luthor's try to grab it after it starts glowing, but it disintegrates. The glow shows "Numon's" (don't spell check me) true enemy. We all know who this is....but still.

Yeah, this episode was kinda lame. It was more developing on character basics, than plot. Lana is definitely leaving for Paris. Pete's Mom and Dad are divorcing. Clark's learning more about his future...blah blah blah. They need to stop playing up that Clark is gonna die, because duh, we all know he's not going to.
