Season 4 Is Starting To Tax My Suspended Belief

The story line of "Divided They Fall" is quite probable to being with. Far Right politician (the very hot Rupert Graves) begins spreading Nazi-esquire propaganda. So far so good. But as the episode progresses the stupid mistakes made by the team are absolutely ridiculous.

The agent manning a safe house in Luton opens the door without checking to see who is on the other side. Ruth enters the same house without backup. These are MI-5 agents, for crying out loud! & they make stupid procedural mistakes that a rookie wouldn't dream of making! As has been mentioned about this programme before, I wonder each week how Adam & his merry band of agents is going to save greater London from yet another terrorist plot. Yawn.

I Might Need to Re-Appraise My Opinion Of Series 4

This is a very good episode of the newly bigger budget Spooks. It has real characters - Ruth Evershed is beginning to become more rounded personality in this series - an the story line is believable even if the more detailed aspects of the plot aren't.

Quite hard hitting and thankfully without all the big bangs, chases and blood letting that the first two episodes had (which worked in fact worked as a one off two parter would become gratuitous if carried on through the series). Instead it was Spooks trying to divide and conquer with all the complications that come with that.

Watched three episodes of Series 4 so far and it is better than series 3 but and although enjoyable not up to Series 2 standards for believability of plot and character as yet.

Divided They Fall

Mirroring the rise of the far right in British politics in a post 9/11 world.

Adam infiltrates a far right party when a Tory MP defects to them.

However the party has the usual mob more interested in violence and race riots than any genuine debate.

MI5 wants to create disharmony between their new MP William Sampson and Keith Moran, their leader.

The plan goes swimmingly until Sampson gets wise.

A good entertaining episode with some pointed performances from David Threlfall and Rupert Graves.

There is some edge of the seat action as Adam has to carry out an act without blowing his cover.
