Necessary but also mostly skippable.

Maybe you're like me and are having a SG-1 marathon during this COVID crisis. To the point, this episode is partly necessary, because it sets up action for season 3, but most of it can be skipped, being a clip episode. Watch the first few minutes until they start playing clips from earlier in the season, then skip to the 25 minute mark, when the actual plot continues.

The Beginning of One of the Best Episodes
claudio_carvalho6 November 2015
Colonel O'Neil awakes in a tank and is informed Dr. Trofsky and Dr. Raully that he has cryogenic hibernated for almost eight years. Further, his friends died in a mission. He is submitted to a technique to retrieve information of his past missions. Then, they do the same with Daniel and Sam, telling that only they have survived. However Jack overhears a conversation in goaul'd and discovers the truth, preparing to rescue his friends. Meanwhile Teal'c awakes in the Sg-1 and General Hammod does not allow him to look for his friends. He leaves the SGC and heads to Chulak, planning to gather an army to rescue his friends.

"Out of Mind" is the beginning of one of the best episodes and the last one in Season Two. It follows the shameful procedure of showing a great episode, interrupting the intriguing story in its climax and forcing the viewer to wait from 12 March until 15 June to watch the conclusion. My vote is eight.

You had me there for a sec

I was for sure duped there for a second, great storyline development and one heck of a season ending cliffhanger. The retrospectives were not necessary and from the wrong perspective if they are supposed to be memory playbacks.

Another recycled clip episode. Avoid unless that's your thing.
imdb-428823 November 2019
When people told me to watch Stargate they Warned me to avoid two episodes in season one including the one with recycled clips. For some unknown reason they didn't tell me to avoid this one. If you're as annoyed by lazy recycling of clips from previous episodes, avoid this garbage.
