Another Strauss classic!!
ttaskmaster10 February 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Strauss likes to play complicated characters, doesn't he!!

By this, I mean both the character himself is complex and the circumstances he finds himself in are complicated, which in turn complicates him and so down we go into an ever further complicated story. Brilliant!!

This short episode is no different. In the same style as many of the Twilight Zone episodes I used to watch as a kid, this collection tells the tales of people who find themselves dealt challenging hands by fate. Often it's either righteous retribution or karmic self-doom that defines how their tale pans out.

In Peter Strauss's episode, a senatorial candidate poised on the brink of success/failure is given an opportunity to alter the circumstances that govern the outcome.

As always, I found myself really sympathising with Strauss's character, despite not liking him very much. It's the sort of thing we can all relate to and thus makes for some of the best story-telling!!
