Marriage
Prismark1022 November 2021
Hattie is looking to get married. Eric is having none of it.

If he loses his sister, then who would do the cooking.

When Hattie makes arrangements to meet someone, Eric does his best to put them off by appearing in disguise.

Later Hattie thinks she has found Mr Right. It's Charles Brown but he is shocked and horrified at the idea of marriage to Hattie.

So Eric sets Charles Brown up with a coarse woman who is supposed to be his fiancé.

It was surprising that Hattie never noticed that Charles is not the marrying kind. Diane Holland plays the fiancé. She was more famous as being even more snootier than Charles Brown in Hi de Hi.

Hattie's in love.

Tired of being single and on the shelf, Hattie places an advert in the lonely hearts section of her Mary's own magazine, Eric is unhappy with her action, and does anything he can to sabotage her plans.

It was always going to be a busy and calamitous afternoon at that book stall. Lots of funny moments, including Eric getting propositioned by a gentleman, and disguising himself up as a kilted Scotsman.

Seeing Mr Brown dig himself into a big hole was amusing, it's not often we get to see him lost for words.

Lots of familiar faces to see here, look out for EastEnders legend Gretchen Franklin, Hi de Hi's Diane Holland and of course going Mr Grace himself Harold Bennett.

I never thought I'd see Diane Holland play such a part, I'm so used to seeing her playing the refined Yvonne, this was a real surprise.

Very funny.

8/10.
