A case of corruption and pressure.
Sleepin_Dragon28 January 2023
Paul Marino investigates the death of Senator Finley, who's pushed out of a window after refusing to be pressurised into proposing a piece of legislation offered by corrupt lobbyist Ollie Crown.

A corrupt lobbyist, one who's working on a personal interest, the very idea.

One of the best episodes so far, I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and the acting was excellent. Well made once again, it looked great.

Edmond O'Brien steals the show as Ollie Crown, he is terrific, he commands the screen with his charisma and delivery, great actor. It's a real game of cat and mouse. Plenty of questions, the main one I thought, why on Earth is Ronnie Dale so keen to assist Marino?

This is definitely another very different type of storyline, I was convinced initially that the series was going to focus on Marino taking on all manner of gangsters and racketeers, and whilst there is an element on that, like the previous episode, it offers something different.

7/10.

The Invisible Government

A story that never goes out of date. Paul Marino goes after lobbyists who target politicians.

State senator Finley fell from a window. It was regarded as an accident or suicide. It was murder as some gangster threw him out of the window.

His widow and Marino believes that famed lobbyist Ollie Crown (Edmond O'Brien) was involved in the death. Finley refused to back the legislation that Crown was pushing.

This is a good solid story looking at US politics and how it can get corrupted by lobbyists and gangsters. The legislation concerned was about liquor licensing.

There was a good twist regarding Crown's girlfriend who was more friendly with gangsters and concerned about Marino hanging around Crown.

A rip roaring performance from Oscar winner Edmond O'Brien.

This is not about gangsters as we use to see in such kind of stories. But about corruptions among lobbyists, those men working for big businessmen and head executives of mammoth companies; the lobbyists who influence the legislature and lawmakers with unethical methods. And guess who plays the lobbyist here?

You have already guessed it's Edmond O'Brien for whom this character suits like a glove. The always excellent Edmond O'Brien whom I won't never get tired of in such tales. The subject is pretty close to the previous episode I commented for this show.

Again in this TV series, you have here a solid story, atmosphere and acting. I will continue watching this series, and comment all épisodes not been yet.
