An outstanding episode directed by Nancy Malone with a great performance by the actress Terumi Matthews. The young girl with the cleft palette, Emily, played by Kelsi Copier also appears in the episode "The Sky is falling" where she plays a character named Amy. This is one of the rare episodes where supernatural events caused by the angels are presented. Monica causes gates to appear and then disappear to block the exit of the pick up truck. Tess causes the appearance of the hot air balloon in the middle of the field and then knows how to fly it to Nashville. Since "Touched by an Angel" comes on two times each morning, it is my daily devotional.

I know this program attempts to promote good and certain religions. However, when it encourages people to break federal laws by condoning a human and a supposed angel who willingly take two minor children across state lines is not a good thing. The ends do not justify the means. You cannot break the law and get away with it just because you are religious. They should have been arrested on sight.

In this episode we find an argumentative and defensive Monica which, in my opinion, is uncharacteristic.
Also there is one scene where Tess seems to use Jedi mind control powers to influence someone which is something we hadn't seen before.
Also there's a completely unnecessary subplot just to work in a star cameo.
The premise of the show, however, I believe was really one of the better ones with a single mother struggling to help her child.
