Mark gets in an accident taking his road test; David tries to film a video documentary of the family for his Communications class.
The late '80s saw a few sitcoms doing the "home made video" plot but MAMA'S FAMILY did it best. Fun to see David holding the huge archaic camera on his shoulder. Burt's video project is called "The Secret Body Language of Cats" because his Nana Weems has 37 of them!
Mark is overly cautious on the road but it ends up biting him in the butt when he swerves to save a woodchuck from becoming roadkill.
When Mark swears off driving forever, David fakes a fall down the stairs in hopes Mark will take him to the hospital. This is a dumb scene and is poorly written. It brings the episode down a notch. At least it ends up tying the A and B plots together, though.
