A teenage girl is kidnapped, her older lover witnesses the incident, and reports it to Van Der Valk, who doesn't initially take the matter seriously, after the girl's brother explains that she's safe and well.
Series two has been engaging throughout, this final episode is one of the best of the lot, it's a clever, gritty mystery, with some really interesting characters.
Nice to see Arlette playing a slightly bigger role, I just love that attire at the coffee shop.
I love the authenticity of the show, the shots of Amsterdam look glorious
I adore Lalla Ward, very good as the damsel in distress, not long before she'd make a ripple playing Romana in Doctor Who.
Pru Ransome is excellent as the central villain, she's actually the stronger of the two kidnappers, better even I'd argue than Bishop Brennan himself, Jim Norton.
A shame that fans would have had to wait four years for the show to return, it would look and feel very different when it came back in 1977.
8/10.
