Ann Blyth is the guest star in the title role of this Wagon Train episode and this
part hearkens one back to the role that she first got acclaim for. Her part in
Mildred Pierce cast her as the spoiled brat from hell. After in her big screen
career Blyth was mostly good girls in musical and dramatic films. But she reawakens Veda Pierce in this Wagon Train story. Imagine Veda all grown up and
the colonel's daughter in this story.
She and Flint McCullough were once an item and Robert Horton was mostly a love 'em and leave 'em type with romances all along the Overland Trail. Blyth was definitely one you leave. But she doesn't see it that way.
She's the only survivor of a massacre at the fort where all the troopers are killed including her father Dayton Lummis. Her fiance Lieutenant Mike Road has been taken prisoner and Horton and her are also taken prisoner.
At this point I say nothing more, but Read Morgan as one of the Sioux pays dearly for his belief in there's good in all of us.
Warren Oates has a small part as one of the cavalry troopers. You Ann Blyth fans might want to check this especially if you love what she did in Mildred Pierce.
