This side of Fred C. Dobbs
bkoganbing28 June 2014
You will rarely see cases of gold fever like you see in this Wagon Train episode this side of Fred C. Dobbs. Robert Fuller nearly loses his life in this story and gets tended to by a woman who hates him.

Half this story is in flashback as we see sheriff Lane Bradford bringing back a pair of humans across two horses one of them is the Wagon Train's Cooper Smith. He'd been sent on a scouting mission to see if desert waterholes were full and he comes across a nearly dead Ron Hayes.

Hayes claims he has just discovered a rich gold ore vein and he's a high strung personality. He's going to share his riches with not only Robert Fuller for saving him, but his largess is big enough for all Wagon Train passengers who helped bring both of them out of the desert.

But then the Fred C. Dobbs syndrome takes over. Imagine if you will if Dobbs had a wife and she got to nurse Tim Holt. That would be what Anne Helm is in this story.

With inspiration for The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre this fine Wagon Train story is dedicated.
