Thirty minutes was too short for this tale.

This could have been a nice story but due to the limited 30 minute format, the story was small clips that never gain any interest.

What we have is a former cavalry named Durant that disgraced when he insulted a ranking officer. He now roams from town-to-town doing odd jobs until someone finds out about his past. In one town he is approached by two men wanting him to go undercover in a hostile part of the country to rescue an Army Major that has been missing for months. And if Durant agrees they will clear his army record.

Durant goes to a town called Marathon where he suspects a large frame rancher named Big Luke Meredith of having a grudge against the Major. It seems Meredith's son, Little Luke, has a discipline problem and the Army has provided punishment. Big Luke is taking it out of the Major. Then like TV magic, Little Luke arrives and also wants some of the Major's skin.

This was a story that was too long for 30 minutes. You had to have the back-story which took up a chuck of the broadcast before you got to the heart of the tale. What you end up with is a near incoherent story that never made much sense. And when the credits roll there is much of the story still left untold. Never got into the episode.
