- Usually the program has a mildy tense atmosphere with the animals watching for prey, pups being left behind and other things
- A significant character of the series is bitten by a poisonous snake trying to protect her pups, and later dies from the venom. This is a very sad moment and people have criticised Animal Planet for not trying to help her.
- Another significant character is bitten by another poisonous snake but he survives.
