How long have we been been saying it: musician Shooter Jennings is the new Taylor Swift! At least when it comes to his interpersonal relationship with John Mayer at least. In fact, it was the very Rolling Stone article where Mayer discussed Swift’s “humiliating” “Dear John” song that set Jennings off on a truly delightful Twitter tirade. “I love how the “neil young of our generation” self-naming king douche grows his hair out + buys a place in Montana just to do Rs article,” the country music DJ and songwriter snarled this evening. “Claims he’s “done w hollywood game” and has “roots” and then immediately cuts hair, goes back to hollywood clubs + starts banging Katy Perry.” Yikes! That does sound like great material for yet another anti-John Taylor Swift song though, doesn’t it? Unless Shooter wants it? You guys will work it out!

Shooter Jennings could barely see over a church pew when his father, country music legend Waylon Jennings, had a falling out with Shooter’s godfather — Waylon’s manager — and asked the little boy to pick himself a new one. Shooter chose a guy who always made him feel important — his dad’s friend and sometime bandmate Johnny Cash. Meanwhile, a Vermont schoolgirl named Grace Potter who got the giggles over Cash’s “A Boy Named Sue” would rediscover the artist as a young aspiring rock star when she heard Cash’s 2003 Rick-Rubin-produced remake of the Nine Inch Nails song “Hurt,” that [...]...

Last night, Bachelorette host Chris Harrison took the theory that he’d articulated in his weekly EW.com blog – ”‘Shooter’ is just not the kind of nickname a woman is going to find cute or endearing” — to Jimmy Kimmel. Watch the clip below. While I agree that “Shooter” shouldn’t have shared the anecdote about how he earned the nickname moments after meeting Bachelorette Ali — on national TV — since it involved premature ejaculation, I do believe “Shooter” itself can be a turn on. Maybe it’s because I’m a Shooter Jennings fan, or because I’m all about Timothy Olyphant on Justified,...

American Idol alum Bo Bice has cut a total of 15 inches off his hair recently. People had the exclusive first look (pictured). My thoughts: He still looks like Shooter Jennings, who told me last year he's been mistaken for Bice. ("I’ve had some homeless people think I’m Bo Bice. This was years ago," Shooter said. "I’d be like, 'Waaaaait, I’m not Bo Bice.'") Also...not bad! With a new album "incorporating more country elements" out May 18, he was in the mood for a change. This one definitely works. Who's in your Better Off Short Hair Club?...

Literary legend Stephen King has populated countless dark worlds with indelible characters, but recently the author decided to become one himself – as a doomed talk-radio host transmitting his final broadcast in country-rocker Shooter Jennings' apocalyptic record Black Ribbons. The spoken-word material is interwoven with the sounds of Jennings' band Hierophant throughout the epic album – described as "an electrifying thrill ride across a dense, dark and gloriously decadent musical landscape." Get the scoop on the origins of Black Ribbons below the fold! Shooter (son of Country legend Waylon Jennings) and producer Dave Cobb actually completed the genre-busting concept album early last year, but...

This news came out of nowhere when it hit my inbox this morning, making good on a Twitter promise that there would be a "big announcement" from Shooter Jennings today...
Legendary genre author and Fangoria contributor Stephen King will be appearing on Jennings' forthcoming concept album, Black Ribbons - due out March 2nd on Black Country Rock/Rocket Science Ventures. King will provide the voice of "Will O' The Wisp," a late-night talk radio host who is in the last hour of his final broadcast before the airwaves are overtaken by "government-approved and regulated transmissions."
Read more from the official announcement below:
With nothing left to lose, the radio host lets loose with a series of rants, punctuating his diatribes with selections from the discography of (Jennings' new band) Hierophant. Throughout the album's 14 songs, Will O' The Wisp flits in and out, painting an apocalyptic picture of what America could become in the not-so-distant future,...
