"Alright Megatruck, let's get busy!!!" Warning: Spoilers
Now this is an episode that just plain rocks, on several levels! It moves nonstop and the whole story works like one big action sequence and is an all-round excellent episode. It's definitely a theme they got going for a while in the middle of the second season, it's the second story in a row where Megabyte's ruthless scheme to drain energy from a game to get access to the blasted Supercomputer results in the game going haywire, this time resulting in a race against looming disaster in an apocalyptic demolition derby time game that's clearly one big loving homage to the Mad Max movies! Now I've never got round to seeing those so I don't really get all of the references but I'm you still can't mistake it. I never got as a kid that the title is actually a neat pun, I thought it meant that Bob would somehow actually turn evil in the story. But Bob is only 'bad' in the sense that he looks like a cool bad-ass biker punk! In another interesting switching up of the game mechanics, Bob has to neither win nor lose but keep the game going long enough to figure out a way to safely return the vital core energy of Mainframe that has become a part of Megabyte in the game in his temporary new form as a rather scary-looking mindless truck. Great little nod to Terminator 2 when Megabyte melts into a pool of energy in a very similar way to the T-1000! I love the unusual conditions brought to the game. Very inventive, it's great how hard they worked to keep the element of the games feeling sharp and new, they never let them grow stale. They were sometimes integral to the plot like with this one, but regardless they were always wonderful and a big part of what made Reboot so special. And this was really the most thrilling game yet, the music is fantastic and just drives the action ever forward! And near the end, when Megabyte menacingly tells Bob that it's the last time he will ruin his plans, well if you know how the rest of the series goes it really is the last time! I love all of the rich little things like the running gag with the two British binomes in the game. Don't quite know to what they are a reference but it's still hilarious. I do love a lot about these, I think I must be a big fan is all! Absolute terrific blast of an episode and a fan favourite for sure. Time to hit the road!
