- The antagonist is sculpted rather creepy which could be frightening to younger viewers. The Boxtrolls themselves, however are quite cute and adorable.

- A married man is attracted to another woman (Later in the film we find out the woman he was attracted to is actually a man in disguise.) and in one scene he is discussing her with some other men and comparing her to a quality cheese while at the same time he is caressing the cheese. This scene is however in no way sexual.
Violence & Gore
- Towards the ending, the villain is shown to be disproportionately swollen after entering a large wheel of cheese as a result of his allergy as said before, with his clothes torn off and some blood on his face. He eventually eats a piece of aged cheese, which causes him to explode into pieces.
- A man is clobbered over the head with a large wrench, killing him. The deed is done in shadow, but the lead up may be intense for younger viewers The violence in this show may disturb younger viewers.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
- The Boxtrolls Get crushed by a giant machine, before we're shown that they escaped in a scene about 15 minutes later.
