The best of the "Tales" series so far.

The "Tales" series of video games really are not sequels to each other or anything, they all have their own plots set in different worlds and such. What they share in common is the fighting engine which consists of real time combat, cooking, and funny little skits you can access at certain points in the game. They are all rather fun too, however, this one is the best of the series to date. Graphics wise it blows its predecessors away as the characters look really good as do the backdrops. The fighting is a bit better too as they add a couple of new techniques, basically the field of fonons effect.

The story is also very good as you just don't know where it is going at times and then wham you are hit with plot point after plot point. Don't get me wrong though it has its flaws also. The fighting system kind of makes you want to use one character all the time, in my case Luke, rather than change up with someone I am not used to. The ending to this one was also a bit of a letdown, especially considering how good the story was as a whole. Still, you get a fast paced story driven rpg which are exactly the type of rpg's I like. The story follows a bit of a spoiled member of royalty. One day a mysterious youth named Tear comes to his castle to assassinate Luke's instructor Van, when Luke interferes with this both he and Tear get warped into a far away land and must rely on each other to make it back to his home. Of course this is only the beginning as the journey will stretch over a rather big land and many calamities and hardships will befall the travelers as they must deal with entire towns falling into the ground, a religious orders knights dedicated to their cause and many other pitfalls and challenges. It is hard to sum up as I don't want to give anything away. Still for my money it is a great game with a great story.

I recently played and won this game on the 3DS video game system. Essentially it is the exact same game as the one released for the PS2 with no real changes being made in the story or in the things you do. The only thing that is different is the fact that it has now been converted to 3D. It is not really the in your face 3D, it is more like added depth making the game look a bit better. It amazes me that the voices and such are still all in tact making me think that instead of discs, it may be time to go back to a cartridge based video game system. Seriously, it is not like they ever make the newer systems backwards compatible anyways, why not simply make a nice flash drive type game, rather than a disc that can get scratched? Still a fun game, at some point though I want to play Xillia and Graces to see if either of those can replace this one as my favorite 'Tales' game.

Tales Of The Abyss (The Best Namco Ever Offered)

Warning: Spoilers
Story 10/10 Right from the start when Luke a replica of Asch is thrown into the Valley of Tataroo with a young woman named Tear a story unlike other unfolds, a legend. Everything in this story is just beautiful, and filled with hope and joy, you have a large and lovable cast. But in the end it all comes down to Tear and Luke, I remember always the last thing Tear said before Luke vanished "I Love You" Tear is a strong and proud soldier so when she does i actually shed some tears. Everything in this game should be seen and cherished yet the ending is surely the best in the game. You are going to want to finish all in the game, it only takes about 2-3 hours for the story to truly begin to unfold and believe when it does it goes on with a huge bang.

Gameplay 10/10 There is a lot of things to do in this game it is filled with a lot of extras even without the main story it can hold on for about 10-20 hours of more game play, and since the Main story takes about 40-60 hours to beat it is incredible, the battles are very likable, and there are many mini games. The world of TOA is huge there are many places to have fun in and many places to run around in, and there is also which i personally like a huge big vast world map you can fully interact around, with, many weird places. The story is what holds this game up from all standards but the game play is as good as the story so you wont feel left out at all.

Music/Sound 10/10 You can go wrong with music from Tales Of sometimes it may be a little boring but for the most it is really good at setting the mood for a great big game, I personally love the opening from Bump Of Chicken - Karma it sets the mood many times and is just perfect for this strong game. The voices from the actors are a lot more then you would ask for in a role playing game, everyone is likable even Mieu the little THING. The ending music in the game is also very good, not as good as the opening but still a lot good.

Graphics 9/10 The Graphics are also really good many times, sometimes it may not look as awesome but when you see other places again it all will make up for the lack of graphics in other places. TOA is filled with Anime like earlier games and that does a lot the anime is with a little 3d and it all are just really good at setting the story to use.

Score 10/10 I gave this game 10/10 because it is worth every last penny you got and every last time you have, don't miss this game. I promise you that you will be surprised by how great it really is. Love it don't sell it, play it when you are down or happy either way it will just touch you like no other you have seen.

"Why are you here?" "This place has a nice view of hod...and also i promised one" (Crying)...
