Excellent program

This show gives the viewer a real taste of what birth is all about. It also shows the viewer that birth outside of the hospital is a very safe alternative. Birth works if you let it! The water births shown are awesome. The filmography exquisite. I am glad that Discovery Health is showing us birth with no holds barred. Shari Daniels is an incredible midwife, with extensive experience in birthing babies and training new midwives. How wonderful to be able to watch real women have real births being respected, without all the drugs and hoopla of a hospital based birth. Great births, great women, great midwives, great show! I hope Discover Health continues this much needed series!

Show about midwives really hits the spot
cariworld22 March 2007
Life in a real birth center is captured in Miami. You see mothers coming in for their check-ups, giving birth, and whatever issues arise you get tips such as sibling rivalry, juggling being a mom and work, Vaginal Birth After Caesarians (VBACs), breastfeeding, water birth, the risks of getting an epidural, partner help and other matters. Excellent show. I love the water births, and the simplicity with which they explain everything on the show. You also get a behind-the-scenes look on how a birth center is run, and the head midwife is an interesting character. This show is great for a layperson learning about birth alternatives, pregnant moms, current and future physicians, current and future midwives, adults and children who will be experiencing a birth, current and future nurses, and those who have experienced natural birth in a midwife setting.
