San Francisco Holiday
bkoganbing20 April 2017
A little bow to Roman Holiday is involved in this Ironside episode where Barbara Anderson takes center stage as an unofficial tour guide in San Francisco.

Crown Prince Bradford Dillman is visiting town and is accompanied by the consul for his Ruritanian type country Wesley Addy. The Ironside team is helping with security and Officer Eve Whitfield defuses a potentially embarrassing situation for Dillman. The whole thing doesn't smell right to the Chief so Eve continues incognito as a tour guide like Gregory Peck was to Audrey Hepburn in Rome.

Raymond Burr's nose was right again and more I won't say. Clearly though this was taken from Roman Holiday and nicely repackaged.

I was surprised at the low rating of this episode. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Barbara Anderson was never more beautiful or charming. The scenes of San Francisco were good but it wasn't all about that. I liked seeing Fisherman's Wharf from the day, even if not a lot of it.

Bradford Dillman played the Crown Prince well. He was stuffy enough but also had a personal side. Even a Prince is an individual with a personality.

NOTE: I had no idea how many times I've seen Bradford Dillman until I looked him up. He's played a variety of types on some of my favorite shows. He's a Yale graduate and a U. S. Marine combat veteran.

Nice fast moving episode.
