A Tear Jerker!
joshmargo26 March 2008
It brought back a lot of memories about being there at the time. Very powerful and a tear jerker to say the least. It really shows how the IDF and Israel operates as a beacon of democracy and human rights in the middle east. Too many times have I seen in the news when a country tries to evacuate an area and the people become hostile and the ruling party uses violence against their own people. I was disappointed that the movie didn't speak about the issue of compensation. The people that left early or on time where compensated by the government, where as the people that protested, many of them got nothing and are still today living in the temporary homes. Prepare yourself for an emotional roller coaster! ...oh and g-d bless Fox News!

If you get a chance, be sure to see this moving look at the human side of the Gaza settlement evacuations.

Just saw the premiere of this incisive film at Slamdance. It is a solid, poignant look at one of the most wrenching times in the history of the Israel/Palestine conflict. It pounds home the personal anguish and tragedy of the continued violence there. The young adults who were swept along as Israel forcibly evacuated the remaining settlers in the Gaza Strip displayed both courage and commitment on both sides of the debate over the wisdom of the removal. Seeing the cast at the premiere, where they spent a week together in a Park City condo continuing to work on their differing perspectives, was a powerful and moving experience for a very responsive audience. Director Adam Hootnik has taken a classic filmmaker's risk, giving up a job at MTV to jump into the middle of this deeply human story. Let's hope the film gets a good distributor, as it should be seen here in America.

a unique story

I saw this film at a private screening and did not know what to expect at first. But you soon realize that this film is nothing like any of other ones out there..It does not have a "formula" . But one thing this movie definitely has a lot of is PASSION...passion that the main characters have about their experiences. The filmmaker takes you inside the real Israeli citizens lives, not the bombings and the violence, but their real everyday stories...You get to view the same story from many different perspectives , and you realize its not as simple as black and white. One character in the movie, and Israeli soldier who has been assigned the task of evacuating the settlers from Gaza says, that he understands why the government tells him to do this, he knows that this must be done, but that doesn't mean that its easy for him, or that he wants to do this, he just understands that there is no choice. The movie makes you think...it makes you question...it will stay in your mind for a long time.
