More mysteries than answers over the ten week period.

Warning: Spoilers
Where is Bill Malloy? According to a crystal ball which David has received as a gift from Burke Devlin, something disastrous has happened, and it's obvious whom David will name the culprit to be. This episode is set entirely at Collinwood with just Victoria, Elizabeth and Joe appearing. Joe tells Elizabeth that Bill never showed up for work, and while trying to get David to work on his lessons, Victoria becomes completely distracted by David's insistance of using the crystal ball. His motives are clear as far as whom he accuses, but could he indeed be right? Not as good as the previous episode, but dark and dramatic and once again, intriguing.

"The Crystal Ball Has Spoken"
wes-connors1 September 2011
After a nice Collinwood in film opening voice-over, Vicki (Alexandra Moltke) finds David (David Henesy) in his bedroom. Before attending to a history lesson, Vicki compliments David on his excellent drawing of Collinwood. David is upset that Vicki showed the drawing to his father, and tears the picture up. Liz (Joan Bennett) enters with a present for David. The gift is anonymous, and arrives with a note stating, "Now you can tell us all where we're going." Liz is upset when it's revealed as a crystal ball from Burke, but allows him to keep the gift...

Downstairs, Joe arrives with some business papers Malloy was supposed to sign, but he never showed up for work. Joe tells Liz he checked with Mrs. Johnson (then Malloy's housekeeper), and Malloy disappeared last night. As part of Mrs. Johnson's story, we learn she spent some time with her daughter (Mr. Crothers leaves out part of an original scripted line, which added that her daughter was going to have a baby). After speaking to Vicki, Liz catches Roger in a lie. David makes some startling predictions, which he attributes to his crystal ball...

Warning: Spoilers
Episode 48 sees the introduction of a new fantastical element for the TV show - a crystal ball, gifted to the young and troubled David by the well-meaning Burke. Elsewhere, there's some more murkiness surrounding Roger, while Malloy is inevitably declared missing following on from the last episode.
