Ho hum.

I love this type of show but they do rely heavily on the character of the judge. Watching Judge Lopez made me realize that. Otherwise we could all just watch Judge Judy and see the same type of case. Unfortunately, Judge Lopez doesn't have much going for her personality-wise, but she does have this great gravely voice. Judge ALex was a cop and you can tell when he starts to interrogate those before him. Judge Judy is your mom, tough but fair. But I can't find Judge Lopez's hook. There's nothing about her or the show that makes me want to sit down and get involved in the cases before her.

When I want justice, I'll watch my beloved Judge Judy.

Chain Smoking, Gin Soaked Old Hag Gets a Show

Warning: Spoilers
When I first stumbled upon this show, I thought it was one of those poorly written and even worse acted skits from MAD TV. Oh how I was wrong. This crap is a real show! Maria Lopez is nothing more than a cheap imitation of the 500 or so other court shows currently n the air. Are the minds that come up with this garbage on drugs, lazy or really that far out of touch with reality to think this show is fresh and original? I personally believe Maria Lopez is the long lost daughter of Leona Helmsley and Ceaser Romero. The fact that Maria Lopez was removed from the bench and nearly disbarred for her antics in real life speaks volumes about how ethically bankrupt this woman really is. Her "12-pack-a-day-of-unfiltered-Camel-cigarettes" voice, overuse of "cutesy" Spanish terms, reliance on cue cards, and possible intoxication on cheap gin only add to this train wreck. Sony should put this show out of its misery forthwith.

Let's hope real judges don't work this way.

If I had to go to court and had a nightmare the night before the trial, this would be it. Judge Maria Lopez decides the cases on her own, doesn't give a damn about what actually happened but simply rules in favor of whoever she likes better. And there's no appeal.

In a lot of the cases on the show, what happens is this: A customer says a contractor did a horrible job fixing this or that and produces pictures of something looking bad. The contractor says that either this isn't his work or that this is his work half way through being done, so it's natural it looks bad. Judge Maria Lopez says the contractor is a crook and rules in favor of the customer. Done. Let's not bother with any facts, this looks bad, you look bad, the other guy/woman is crying because of you and that means they're right.

"Judge Maria Lopez" is so cool

I like watching "Judge Maria Lopez" because it's a great show. I remember watching this show on YouTube & it was nice. I especially admire the eponymous arbitrator's raspy voice. It's a shame Sony Pictures Television ended this show the same day they've ended production for their very first court show which was "Judge Hatchett". Another thing I like about this show is the opening sequence which shows Judge Maria Lopez introducing herself because it was beautiful. I even like hearing the narrator introducing the cases as well as showing the titles of them. The theme song sounds so beautiful as well.
