I Married Joan: Eviction is amusing enough for fans of '50 television comedy
tavm29 September 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Joan has just come home and put meat in the oven when her husband Bradley comes in and expects dinner. Joan takes her time preparing the table, time too long for her husband so she gets the meat but it's still not prepared, in fact, the oven hasn't even been turned on! Joan explains that she was just at her women's club meeting which Bradley doesn't like. The next day, the women's club gets an eviction notice from their base of operations signed by Joan's husband. Joan convinces Bradley to come to club meeting on his lunch period to tell his side of the story and that it's nothing personal. As Bradly speaks, Joan gets on onion that convinces her fellow club members and Brad to cry but it backfires when Joan wears a couple of them as earrings! Joan then tells her husband that the next meeting is at their house as Brad brings home the board leader that he's trying to convince to rescind the eviction. Unfortunately, it's too late for Joan to keep her fellow members from making fools of themselves bandaging Joan's mouth and playing band music while Joan knocks board head accidentally with her gaze-wrapped arm! Fortunately, all is saved when Joan brings board head's wife to next meeting as they lift board head's wife up and once again sing for joy! Very amusing, if contrived, episode with most of the laughs courtesy of Joan Davis with Jim Backus providing able support. Worth seeing for fans of '50s TV comedy.
