Dave, Ricky and their girlfriends are out on a picnic with the girls' brothers. They are having a nice time when a lost dog interrupts their picnic. The girl's brothers, Barry and Steve, are instantly enthralled with the dog.
They want to take him home but are first told they need to find the owner. Who gets to take the dog home, they wonder? Dave suggests they take turns watching the dog until the owner responds.
After a week with the ad in the paper, there has been no reply. So Barry and Steve come to David to ask who should get to keep the dog. Dave tells them they should see a lawyer and the boys go to see Mr. Kelley.
Mr. Kelley turns the case over to Dave and he has to make the difficult decision of who gets the dog.
