Clever look at Mainstream filming by XXX makers
lor_17 November 2020
Nick Orleans made a near-classic sleeper with "The Naked Truth", addressing screen eroticism from a pornographer's point of view vicariously telling a story about mainstream Hollywood's dealing with the issue. It's a belated "what if?" peek at what might have happened if the Porno Chic craze of a decade or so earlier had gained lasting impact.

Movie opens with a movie crew shooting a love scene of a mainstream movie titled "Underground Love" starring Ashton Moore (in her actual debut, working for XXX label Adam & Eve here) and Ian Daniels. Perhaps projecting a couple of decades into the future we see an all-woman movie crew led by Kelsey Heart as movie director Margo Canne, with the A-camera shooting normal softcore lovemaking while the B-camera aimed below the bed covers shooting XXX footage.

All hell breaks loose when the dailies are seen by star Moore as well as the movie's producer Tony Martino, fearful of the scandal if pornographic footage from the movie leaks out. Two of Moore's sexy housemaids (Holly Sampson and Danielle Rogers) in fact leak the issue to the tabloids, with serious damage to both Moore's and the movie's future.

Enter actor-producer Brick Majors, who buys the unfinished picture, retitles it "Naked Throat 2" after his erotic hit made in the wake of "Emmanuelle"'s success, and recasts it with himself and statuesque screenwriter (of "Underground Love") Azlea Antistia as leads.

Strong sex scenes, underlined by a hot, rhythmic musical score by Saint, propels the movie, ending with a classic staging of the female movie crew stripping to shoot the scene of Azlea and Brick in topless or nude state.

Throughout the show we're made aware of an ambivalence and hypocrisy in mainstream filmmaking regarding presenting explicit sex on screen, and Orleans' screenplay includes interesting detail regarding such matters as platform releasing strategies and how movies are financed. All while creating quality porn content for the Adam & Eve fans.

Moore and Azlea are terrific Adult performers, and Orleans' trademark fetishes (sexy lingerie) delivered as well. It adds up to a fun, adventurous movie from Nick, his producer Nicholas Steele and a team headed by the Booth Brothers, aka composer Saint and editor Philip O'toole.
