Warning: Spoilers
No time for retakes - we even hear a prompt at one point, and actors fluff their words. Actually, it gives the whole thing a naturalistic feel which is rather attractive. A pickpocket team lift several wallets, and find a blackmail note in one.

Monty the pickpocket sets out to find out who the blackmailer is but doesn't get far before he turns up dead. The police are more successful, mingling with actresses and producers before they unmask the villain. What's Nigel's terrible secret? Only that he had an affair with an older woman. Poor Nigel is left in the foreground of the shot with nothing to do when he's just been told his mother has been murdered, but he carries it off pretty well.

Love the swinging party. What was the point of couple dancing with no discernible steps? It was some weird kind of mating ritual. So glad we've moved on, or have we?

Death on the Doorstep

A pickpocket who stole a wallet in a west end soiree finds a blackmail letter.

He thinks he might profit from it but winds up dead.

The police think that Charles Gordon is being blackmailed but he does not tell why.

It seems several people are being blackmailed for reasons such as marital indiscretions.

A pretty talky episode and at one point Lockhart has to be prompted by someone off camera.

An episode of its time set in the west end of London. It perks up a little at the end as Lockhart has a theory as to who the real culprit is.
