Nikki Amuka-Bird gives a powerful performance as a gritty deputy defending her remote sheriff’s office from armed invaders
There’s an old-timey charm about this, a (mostly) one-location action movie in the tradition of Rio Bravo, or its sort-of remake Assault on Precinct 13. Partly it’s because of the remote mountainous setting in an unnamed state, the log cabin sheriff’s office, the trucks, twangy accents and mentions of second amendment nuts; and partly because of the core device of having a heroic figure – in this case, Deputy Tabby Temple (Nikki Amuka-Bird) – defending the fort against armed invaders. But the joke’s on us because nearly the whole thing was shot in Kosovo and most of the cast is British, as is writer-director Will Gilbey, who is making his feature directorial debut after a long apprenticeship as an editor, writer and second-unit dogsbody on the distinctly estuary-accented Rise of the Footsoldier...

Doc raking over the 1995 ‘Range Rover murders’ of three drug dealers assembles a string of hardmen interviewees without turning up much drama
In 2007, the profitable and entertaining low-budget film Rise of the Footsoldier kicked off an entire Footsoldier franchise, whose title became a byword for a particular kind British gangster flick, high on baseball bats and Stanley knives and low on diplomatic conflict-resolution. Several of the Footsoldier films feature fictionalised versions of the real life drug dealers Pat Tate, Tony Tucker and Craig Rolfe, whose bodies were discovered by a local farmer in 1995, having been shot at point blank range in a 4x4 in a quiet part of Essex.
This new documentary aims to explore the ins-and-outs of the so-called “Range Rover murders”, which have been subject to conspiracy theories and wild speculation ever since. Director Trevor Drane has assembled quite the rogues’ gallery in order to pin down the...

We here at HeyUGuys always love a good chat with Craig Fairbrass, this time to promote the latest film from the popular Rise of the Footsoldier movie series. The latest, entitled “Vengeance”, sees the actor reprise the fan-favourite role of Pat Tate.
We discussed the popularity of the character, and what audiences can expect from this latest entry. He also talks about the talented ensemble, while looking back to Cliffhanger, a film that means a lot to the actor, and recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. He also looks ahead, to the exciting new crime series Boat Story.
Watch the full interview with Craig Fairbrass here:
Correction: Craig accidentally referred to Boat Story co-star Joanna Scanlan as “Patricia”, and has since reached out to correct the mistake.
Synopsis
Pat Tate embarks on a rampage to avenge his loyal and trusted footsoldier’s violent death, venturing beyond his comfort zone of Essex...

Carnaby International’s Rise of the Footsoldier: The Mobile Game has been developed in partnership with Soho Game Development, Platinum Pictures, Akupara Games, and Flowstate Xr – featuring familiar faces from the film franchise, reimaged in old-school Beat-Em-Up style with modern 3D graphics and updated gameplay mechanics.
Tiernan Hanby worked on Rise of the Footsoldier: The Mobile Game, and shares his insight on the rise in popularity of retro & mobile games this year…
Can you explain why retro mobile games will have a boom in 2023?
The Videogames industry has been bigger than the Film and Music industry combined for years now. It’s so big that even non-gamers have their favourite Twitch streamers. And Twitch streamers are the new rock stars. E-Sports stars are the new athletes. Walker is an assassin, one of the best in the business. But this time one of the witnesses wasn’t as dead as they seemed to be. With his cover potentially blown, he needs a trip to “Reassignment Center 42” to be fitted out with a new identity, a process that he seems to be quite familiar with.
This time however there’s barely time for him to have his fingerprints burned off before the facility comes under attack by a team of heavily armed mercenaries under the command of Keates. Their target is Juliet and her protector Elda.
Director Brad Watson’s credits run more towards horror films such as Beacon 77 and For We Are Many than action, and The Siege is Nicole Bartlett’s first produced script...

Netflix is about to remove a alrge selection of movies and TV shows from its service.
Every month, without fanfare, numerous titles are removed from the streamer.
This means that, should something be on your watchlist, it will vanish until it’s added again.
Netflix doesn’t publicise the titles it will remove – and users will only be alerted to something’s imminent removal if they happen to select the title in question.
But, with help from the team at What’s on Netflix, we’ve compiled the full list – and you can find the compilation of everything being added this month here.

If Ted Lasso were a film executive, he’d probably resemble someone like Marc Goldberg, the CEO of U.K. producer-distributor Signature Entertainment.
Goldberg’s favorite football team since he was a kid has been West Ham United, and — in a cosmic alignment befitting the popular Apple TV Plus series — the club’s owner, David Sullivan, happens to be a stakeholder in Signature.
In Goldberg’s early career as a DVD salesman, he managed to convince a corporate client that buying an executive box at West Ham would come in handy when entertaining customers. In 2010, when Sullivan bought the team, the new owner asked for feedback from corporate members on ways to improve the club, which super-fan Goldberg readily provided in an off-the-cuff email.

In his latest interview, Kev sits down to finally chat with Terry Stone an independent filmmaker, actor and producer in the truest sense of the word. They talk about his entry into the movie industry and what led to his time as Tony Tucker in the Rise of the Footsoldier franchise; before moving onto FilmCoin…
What’s FilmCoin you ask?
FilmCoin is a blockchain-powered film creation and television production cryptocurrency that unites the film and television industry with the world of digital assets, including blockchain, cryptocurrency, non-fungible tokens and decentralised finance. FilmCoin aims to challenge the existing status quo of the film industry. Big Hollywood studios have historically dominated large scale productions; FilmCoin has created a fresh and engaging way to finance movies. Specifically designed for fair and accurate financing throughout the various stages of the film and television production cycles, FilmCoin streamlines the process, intelligently ‘trimming the fat’ to maximise profit potential.

The unkillable crime saga rewinds to the 90s for yet another helping of lairy geezers going at it. Will you stay awake this time?
Say what you might about the Rise of the Footsoldier franchise – for example, that the films are boringly repetitive or that they wallow way too much in macho, estuary-accented crime-flick cliches – at least they’re consistent. And loyal: ever since the first one came out in 2007 and dramatised the lead-up to the real-life Essex Range Rover murders of 1995, the subsequent four films have used roughly the same cast members throughout. But given that three of the major characters carked it in the first movie, the film-makers have no choice but to keep making prequel stories, set in the time before our drug-dealing Essex-underworld anti-heroes turned up brown bread in Rettendon.

Craig Fairbrass is a misunderstood actor. His work has often elevated the material of British gangster flicks, of course lending his talents to the hugely popular Rise of the Footsoldier franchise. Returning in his fifth, and final instalment, which tells the origin story of how the firm first began, when we had the chance to speak exclusively to the actor, he spoke of his dreams and ambitions going forward, and a willingness to be given more nuanced characters for him to get his teeth stuck into.

Undoubtedly one of the best movies we’ve watched this year, Muscle finally becomes available this weekend with a cinema and On-Demand release – and to mark the occasion, we spoke to the two leading stars Cavan Clerkin and Craig Fairbrass, as well as director Gerard Johnson.
The film, which takes a candid and unflinching look at toxic maculinity, makes for a n intense, exhilarating, and oddly rather humorous affair, that brings out exceptional performances from its leading men. We discussed with Clerkin the rigorous training he had to undertake for the role, and what a joy it was to work in the environment that Johnson created for his actors. Naturally, we ask what it was like to be on set during the film’s somewhat explicit orgy sequence, too.

Despite a new lockdown, there are still things to look forward to. Following rave reviews at BFI London Film Festival and Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, among others, Muscle is coming to UK cinemas and Video on Demand from 4th December, and we are proud to unveil the brand new UK poster and a set of exclusive stills.
From writer-director Gerard Johnson and shot in stunning black and white, Muscle is a psychological thriller that’s dripping in sweat, tears and testosterone.
The film tells the story of Simon an unhappy, unambitious office worker whose life is gradually taken over by Terry his new, hands-on personal trainer who reveals himself to be more committed, and more dangerous, than Simon could have ever imagined.
Simon isn’t living the life he wants. He’s tired of his dead-end job at a call centre – and he isn’t even any good at it.

Lairy crime saga Rise of the Footsoldiers is the latest victim of a film-industry smash-and-grab: a new title. Do they think we’re mugs?
Fans of the preposterous low-budget British crime saga Rise of the Footsoldier have plenty to worry about. There’s the series’ Rotten Tomatoes score, which has oscillated from a high of 88% to a horrible low of 23%. There’s the sad realisation that Shaun Ryder won’t be in any of the new films, after he was so memorably stabbed to death with a lightbulb in the last one. And now they have a name change to contend with.
Next week’s fourth instalment had originally been titled Rise of the Footsoldier: Marbella. But now, in a last-minute reverse ferret, it is to be called Rise of the Footsoldier: The Spanish Heist. Why? Perhaps producers were worried the original title was too geographically specific, or that it...

2016 was a great year for Zackary Adler. The New York born director has become a sort of a cult figure amongst fans of gritty British gangster movies; a genre which despite racking up hit after hit has until now remained on the fringes of the British film industry.
After the record-breaking success of his recently released films Rise of Krays (2015) and The Fall of The Krays (2016), Adler has also just finished directing the third instalment and prequel to Rise of the Footsoldier , a franchise based on real life events surrounding the Rettendon Triple Murders, better known as The “Range Rover murders”. The film will be released by Signature Entertainment later this year. And if that wasn’t enough, Adler is also about to start shooting the third instalment of his Krays franchise, titled The Krays And The Mafia.
