End Of The Search

The final episode of the series ironically goes back to human birth, and whether or not babies still in the womb can think and feel, and know what is going on in the outside world, specifically with the mother. One woman under hypnosis seems to remember just that, but evidence is still inconclusive. Features a surprisingly graphic and real childbirth at the end, and also examines the moral and legal debate between pro-life and pro-choice forces. Interesting episode isn't as ambitious with the premise of pre-birth memories as you might hope, but deserves credit for authenticity.

Sad to see this fantastic series end, as there were further topics possible for a seventh season, but it was sadly not to be...

The final episode is dated but still good.Child before birth

Warning: Spoilers
The child before birth breaches the topic does the fetus/child feel, think etc. Life Before Birth was created before ultrasound, but still good. The episode mentions fetus development, movements, having R E M sleep and being awake. How before prenatal care helps and and can hurt the baby. With new technology we even know more. Interesting pick for the final In Search of episode. The show ends positively with the miracle of birth. Life Before Birth answers yes there is functioning, listening, seeing before birth. The part about memory was an interesting question about the human mind. Guess the series wanted to end on a positive note.

In Search Of... "Life Before Birth" (1982) The final episode for the IN SEARCH OF... series takes on the fascinating subject of whether or not there's some sort of life for a baby before it is born. This takes a look at that subject as well as what effect smoking can have on an unborn baby. Of course, in 2016 when I'm watching this, we know a lot more on the subject but for the most part this was a fascinating episode to close out the series. There are some pretty good moments throughout including what it would mean if a baby was born with a memory of the pre-birth.

Episode: B+
