Doomsday
AaronCapenBanner30 September 2014
As the very self-descriptive title says, this episode deals with how the end of the world may come about, and the focus here is on the possibility of a giant meteor or asteroid hitting the earth, and the apocalyptic consequences that would ensue, leading to the probable extinction of the human species, much the same way as the dinosaurs were wiped out 65 million years ago, which scientists believe was caused by such an event. Millions of dust and debris would be thrown in the atmosphere, blotting out the sun, leading to worldwide death for land-dwelling creatures. Interesting and informative episode presents the subject in an effective matter-of-fact way.

In Search Of... "The End of the World" (1981)

This episode takes a look at what possible end the world as we know it. The cause given is an asteroid and then we hear about a previous time when many believe an asteroid hit the Earth and wiped out the dinosaurs. For the most part this is a good episode that works well as a history lesson of the past as well as a "warning" against what could possibly happen. Of course, an episode like this was made to try and scare people and I'm sure many watched this when it originally aired and got worried about what might happen. There are some nice footage of where previous objects hit the Earth.

Episode: B+
