The Best Episode of the Second Season!
americandragonfreak3 March 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Oh wow! Everything you were wondering about Rose's family and the Huntsclan is answered. I would like to take this time to say to you: The Huntsman dies! No, I'm not kidding. And Rose almost dies, too. Almost.

Jake and Rose are nominated for the Homecoming king and queen. But, the happiness is short lived for the Huntsman finds out about Rose's betrayal. The Huntsman then tells Rose that he knows where her parents are and if she doesn't get him all the skulls, he can have them killed.

I will not say anymore except this: this episode is dramatic, suspenseful and it completes the Jake and Rose story, but it is not the way the audience wants it to be finished.

The voice acting is excellent. Dante Basco and Mae Whitman are very convincing at the end and it is quite heart-wrenching. And for Jeff Bennett, out of all the characters he played, the Huntsman was my favorite.

This episode is not to be missed by all Am Drag fans. I would say to the parents, though: if you have a fan who is under 7, I would suggest that you watch this with them. Rose destroys all Huntsclan in a way which might frighten your younger kids and then Rose almost meets the same fate, which will have your kids in tears. They will be crying all night. But it's worth it. Do not miss this episode!

Devastating. It looks like the end, because it's the beginning of the end.

Warning: Spoilers
Throughout the run of "American Dragon: Jake Long" I often wondered just how many seasons Jeff Goode, and the rest of his staff wanted for it, and if you had asked me back then, I would be surprised that it would be more than two. Looking at this episode, it's far too obvious that two seasons will be the limit.

The Huntsmaster is about to steal the last of the 13 Aztec Skulls, that can grant wishes when they're all put together. Needless to say he's going to use them to eliminate all magical creatures, including dragons, so Jake has to stop him and the rest of the Huntsclan. But the Huntsmaster suspects he has a mole working against them, and he finds out that it's Rose. Additionally, it just so happens that both were nominated Millard Fillmore Middle School's Homecoming King & Queen. Jake is psyched-up for this, but Rose is scared, because she knows the Huntsclan will punish her. Fortunatley, Jake offers to take her away from the Huntsclan and help her find her parents. Unfortunately, the Huntsclan blackmails her by forcing her to steal the skulls from Grandpa's special hiding place with the promise of keeping her family alive long enough to reunite with them. Not only is the question of whether the magical world will survive this latest ordeal, but of whether Rose chooses the boy she loves, the cult that raised her, or something else. On the lighter side, there's a mishap at school that leads to the possibility of Spud and Trixie becoming more than friends.

I said in my review of the episode "Half-Baked" that Jake loves Rose, and it's not just as eye candy. For those of us who are way past the show's target demographic, it's hard not to think of Sting's first solo hit "If You Love Somebody, Set Them Free." I also must concur with my fellow IMDb user "americandragonfreak" that this episode may be inappropriate for younger viewers. Jake's rage after saving his beloved is the kind of thing I was talking about when I was referring to what I expected in "The Hunted." Frankly, I don't think it deserved the TV-G Rating it received. But this couldn't possibly change the fact that it's one of the better episodes at least.

Great, but it seems out of place...

Warning: Spoilers
I loved this episode, and I think it's one of the best ones yet. It just seems out of place. Too much happened to fit into a half-hour slot, and it would've been better off as a two-parter or even a movie. Think about it, the huntsclan is destroyed, Rose looses her memory, and she moves to Hong Kong. They sort of set themselves up to get stuck. Now, it would be hard to bring back the huntsclan, which was one of the best enemies of the show. The "Rose and Jake" thing is at a standstill, and that was a major plot of the show, of how a dragon and a dragon slayer's relationship could work out.

I'm not saying this episode was bad. In fact, it's great. I just can't wait to see the new ideas that the writers come up with.
