Over the last year, MTV and Nickelodeon have tapped into viewers' nostalgia by resurrecting a few of their long-gone but still-beloved series for special runs to much fan fervor.
Nickelodeon kicked off the trend last March with the invention of their midnight to 2 a.m. '90s Are All That block, featuring reruns of Rugrats, Kenan & Kel, Pete & Pete, The Amanda Show, All That, and Clarissa Explains It All.

MTV followed suit this past summer by rerunning Laguna Beach from the beginning, which led into The Hills and then Daria, once Brody's backdrop was wheeled off.
The one-time music video channel also brought back four classic seasons of The Real World this past weekend as a promotional tool to help launch season 28, which takes place in Portland and premieres this Wednesday.

It may not be The Amityville Horror, but Paula Abdul is ready to bolt from her L.A.-area house that's seen its fair share of bad karma. The former The X Factor judge is selling her Sherman Oaks mansion, which hit the market a day after Abdul agreed to pay $900,000 to a woman to took a bad spill in her driveway five years ago while filming her short-lived reality series Hey Paula. So what will the potential buyer be getting, aside from a $1.9 million price tag? The five-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath manse covers 4,679 square feet and comes with rolling gardens, a pool, intricate wrought-iron detailing and a soaring foyer. But the Mediterranean-style home's biggest selling point is its...

Was Paula Abdul feeling the guilt factor? Simon Cowell's former right-hand judge has agreed to a $900,000 settlement for a woman who suffered a nasty fall in the "Straight Up" singer's driveway during filming of the short-lived reality show Hey Paula in 2007, the plaintiff's attorney confirmed Wednesday to E! News. Jill Kohl, who sued Abdul in 2009, said that she had to undergo a series of back surgeries as a result and was entitled to damages. And, it turns out, the six figures from Abdul isn't all she's getting. Scott Sternberg Productions, the company behind Hey Paula, has agreed to kick in another $100,000, upping Kohl's payday to $1 million. A trial...

Paula Abdul, we can barely remember a time when you weren’t gently crushing people’s dreams on TV somewhere. Don’t make us go back to those dark days! Unfortunately, it’s official: Paula, fellow judge Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones will not be returning for The X-Factor‘s second season, leaving Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid as the only returning castmembers. “Yes, it’s true; I won’t be returning to The X Factor next season. I’ve learned through my longevity in this industry that business decisions often times override personal considerations,” Abdul said as part of a statement this afternoon. Oh, how it hurts! Like they’re canceling Hey Paula all over again!
So who should take over for Paula and Nicole when it comes to dismissing mediocre 13-year-olds next fall? Luckily there were plenty of names thrown around last year as potential judges that...

Former "American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi's new reality competition, "Platinum Hit," hasn't even premiered yet and it seems Bravo already thinks she's ratings gold.
The network just announced it's developing a reality series starring DioGuardi with the working title, "Kara." That's easy to remember.
"I am excited to broaden my relationship with Bravo," says DioGuardi. "I am a fan of the network and appreciate how their programming gives the audience a bird's-eye view into different industries and really uncovers what makes people tick."
The new series will follow the music maven in her personal time and during her hectic career as a songwriter, producer, music publisher and record executive.
It's produced by World of Wonder, the same company behind Logo's "RuPaul's Drag Race" and Bravo's own "Million Dollar Listing."
We're totally happy for her, but we're suddenly getting déjà vu. Anyone remember Bravo's trashtastic "Hey Paula!" from 2007? Paula Abdul would love to forget it.

Are you feeling nostalgic for the golden days of Idol? Are you eagerly anticipating the debut of Lady Gaga's new music video? Well, this is the news roundup for you!
Simon Cowell Ready to Resurrect Paula Abdul as Judge
Yay, yay, yay! Paula Abdul is back! If only it were in the capacity of Hey Paula. To have her back with Simon is just as good, though. Simon Cowell may have just put the final nail in the coffin of American Idol with his announcement that Paula Abdul will (probably) be a judge on The X-Factor. He has also announced that Cheryl Cole and Antonio "L.A." Reid will be joining him, but seriously you guys, Paula Abdul! This is good news for her, since Live to Dance was, well, short-lived.

['Live to Dance' - 'Auditions #1' & 'Auditions #2']
Welcome to the latest slice of reality TV, CBS's 'Live to Dance,' a sort of 'America's Got Talent' for dancers only. But more than a show about talent and dancing, there was a lot of star style because CBS made this the Paula Abdul show.
Paula, finally landing somewhere after Fox's 'American Idol,' is not just a judge on 'Live to Dance,' she's also a mentor.
In essence this is a platform for Paula, and unlike her disastrous Bravo reality show, 'Hey Paula,' for the most part she's in her element here. She gets to be sparkly and cloying, spouting platitudes and clichés about passion and inspiration.

CMT, which stands for Country Music Television, has picked up a dance-competition reality series from producer Phil Gurin (The Singing Bee). According to the Hollywood Reporter, the hour-long show will combine video clips of people from across the country paying tribute to famous dance scenes with their own interpretation (gah!) with onstage performances by amateur contestants, who will perform their rendition of the same dance before a live studio audience (aggggghhhh!). Despite the information above, I choose to believe Cmt's new dance series will actually be the TV spinoff of Paula Abdul's 1995 aerobics video Get Up and Dance. You...

Hey Paula, from one singer to another, Natalie Cole says she isn't after your old job. "I would be tough. Even if I got the chance to be a celebrity judge, I would be tough," Cole, 59, said at Thursday's Harold Pump Foundation Gala in Beverly Hills to honor Earvin "Magic" Johnson and Bill Russell, laughing off rumors she is up for a judging spot on American Idol after the departure of her pal Paula Abdul. "I really doubt that's going to happen, but thank you for saying so." The performer, who is recovering from a kidney transplant, added, "I like Simon [Cowell] very much, I love Paula -- I just saw her today, [she's] a good friend." A friend whose decisions she fully supports: "I'm sorry she's not on the show, but I think she did the right thing," Cole said. -- Nicholas White Tsuni/Gamma, Valerie Macon/Afp/Getty...

Now that Fox has made it clear that American Idol is moving ahead without its popular (but polarizing) judge, is Paula Abdul about to become the most eligible bachelorette in television today? Many signs point to that possibility, as producers like Nigel Lythgoe and NBC reality guru Paul Telegdy have already indicated a willingness to work with the genial singer/dancer. Both have competition shows with judging panels -- Telegdy's network airs America’s Got Talent and Lythgoe exec produces So You Think You can Dance for Fox -- so adding Abdul to either show would make sense from a continuity standpoint (to say nothing about what it could do for ratings). But would it make sense for Abdul? While there’s little doubt that the former pop star can -- and will -- find ample opportunities beyond Idol, she’ll never score the kind of cash she could have...

On Thursday, there were another couple of turns in the soap opera of "American Idol" and Paula Abdul. It's Fox's day to present its fare at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, and there was indeed some "Idol" news. Katy Perry and Victoria Beckham will be among a series of female pop stars and performers who will be guest judges on the Fox talent contest. During the network's executive session Thursday morning, Fox executives Peter Rice and Kevin Reilly said that it was Abdul's choice to leave "Idol," despite the network having offered her a "substantial" raise. For the past 48 hours, I've subsisted on a steady diet of Honey Bunches of Oats, Diet Dr. Pepper, and news and speculation about Paula Abdul. And while I'm planning an item about Paula's five best pop songs for our Music Mix blog later this afternoon, I thought it might be fun for now to look back at some of Paula's wildest, wackiest moments since returning to the spotlight with American Idol in 2002. Check out my six favorites, then head to the comments section and share your own! (And pick up this week's issue of EW for more on Paula's exit.) Melon-Gate: During the season 5 semifinals, Paula's advice to Kevin Covais and Jose "Sway" Penala took a turn for the absurd, ending with this memorable bit of free verse (which she credited to Simon Cowell): "The moth who finds the melon finds the cornflake always finds the melon—and one...

To "American Idol" fans, for the past eight seasons Paula Abdul has been like that wacky aunt at a wedding who puts her arm around you and says things that sound really, really nice, but kind of make no sense. And that's why America fell in love with Abdul all over again, more than 20 years after the former Laker Girl first made a mark on the entertainment industry.
Abdul, 47, who announced on Tuesday that she will not be returning for season nine of "Idol," began her Hollywood career in 1979, when she joined the cheerleading squad for the Lakers. Within three months, she was the group's head choreographer. She later went on to choreograph for the Jacksons, Zz Top, George Michael, Duran Duran, Janet Jackson and several...

As Paula Abdul infamously wailed on "Hey Paula," "Where is God when you need him? Because this does not make sense!"
"Idol" fans across the Internet (myself included) had a collective Abdul-esque meltdown last night when news broke (via Paula's official Twitter) that she was leaving "American Idol" for good. For real.
The news hit me much harder than I expected it to, especially since we all assumed the "She's gonna leave!" chatter of the past few weeks was just an empty threat lobbed out there by her managers in order to drum up some publicity during contract negotiations.
In order to help you navigate through the pain, I've documented my bad day as I moved through The Seven Stages of (Paula Abdul) Grief.
1) Shock & Denial

Yeah, yeah, the 47-year-old tweeted that she's done with the show and Fox then released a statement expressing its sadness that Paula quit the "Idol" family. It looks like there won't be another season of Hey Paula. The star of the series has pulled the plug.
The Bravo reality series follows actress/singer/choreographer/American Idol judge Paula Abdul through her daily trials and tribulations -- preparing for another season of Idol, developing her perfume and cosmetics line, and working on the movie Bratz. To the public, Abdul appears self-obsessed and emotionally fragile. The series gives an inside look as to some of the possible reasons why -- pressures from the relentless press, Idol, and from running numerous self-titled businesses.
Hey Paula is produced by Abdul, Ken Abraham, Darren Maddern, David Russo, David Russo, and Scott Sternberg. The series kicked off with two episodes on June 28, 2007 and averaged just over 600,000 viewers. Viewership fell to half that by the end of the season's seven episode run.

Abdul: "I Was Not Fired"
American Idol judge Paula Abdul has denied reports she was fired from the Bratz movie, insisting she turned the role down. The singer has blasted rumors she was dropped from the project by movie bosses, but blames her busy schedule for parting ways with the production. In a statement released to UsMagazine.com, her representative says, "She was not only taping American Idol three days at week, she was also filming her Bravo reality series Hey Paula five days a week as well. In addition, she was in the process of not only expanding her successful Qvc jewelry line but also coming up with the first scent in her new perfume line Sexy Thoughts. Something had to give and ultimately that was Bratz."...
