The Woman in Grey
Prismark1026 October 2023
Edward Woodward narrates a chilling tale of the murder of a young girl. Could it be linked to the ending of an affair by her womanising father Stephen Moore (Mark Arden.)

He had been having a long term affair with his landlady Esther Pay (Nicola Redmond.) Due to her husband finding out. He and his wife and children leave the house quickly and find some other digs.

Stephen Moore was a womaniser, who had dalliances with many women at the same time. He called it quits with Esther as her husband had been beating her up over Esther's affair.

The real reason seems to have been that Stephen shacked with someone else. Soon after his young daughter Georgie goes missing. She was last seen with a woman wearing a grey court, just the type Esther Pay had.

Georgie's dead body is found near where Esther resided after she left her husband.

It was the type of case where there might have been several suspects. It could had been Stephen, or the irate husbands or fathers of the women that Stephen had affairs with. It also seemed likely that someone was trying to set Esther up. Given that the body was found near to where she had moved to. Maybe her estranged husband could had been responsible.

A sickening crime.

Serial adulterer Stephen Moore has a habit of cheating on his wife, however a long standing affair with Esther Pay ends in tragedy, after Esther is suspected of taking and killing his young daughter Georgie.

This is a really chilling story, could Esther truly have committed such an atrocious, abhorrent crime, simply to be with the man she loved, I find it so hard to comprehend, I find it so hard to accept that a woman could have done that.

It's definitely not a clear cut case, the evidence seemed a little circumstancial, you can't help wondering if Stephen had upset someone else, he definitely was a dog.

Very well made, very well acted, easy to believe in each of the characters, Nicola Redmond was great, Mark Arden was incredibly handsome, it made the character work.

Intriguing, 8/10.
