brings back memories
darksorcerer6 July 2009
This game was amazing at the time it came out. It contained many different Summer sport activities such as skateboarding, surfing, bmx stunt bike, footbag, roller skating and frisbee The game had its own incentive based bonuses with the mini game (tile spinning) obtaining better footbags or better surfboards etc.

The skating/bmx/surfing had many tricks that were available to perform. IM not to sure if this game was available on snes, i know i used to play it in Megadrive/genisis and possible Sega master system.

California Games to this day holds fond memories, the graphics compared to today are laughable though at the time were top of th line.

A must for all Kids

California Games

Warning: Spoilers
California Games much like Summer and Winter Games which I loved included; Surfing, Hacky Sack, Bmx, Roller Skating, Half-Pipe and more. Countless hours of fun, not quite as good as the Olympic ones to me, but this was definitely the crowd-pleaser. Quality music and sound effects.

More Childhood Fun

Warning: Spoilers
'California Games' , released in 1987, is yet another favourite game from my childhood. Released for both the Sega Master System and Sega Mega Drive ( the latter which was my favourite version ), as well being ported to the Nintendo, Commodore and Atari systems, it was a skill based game in which the player had to perform a series of sporting events ranging from half pipe skateboarding, hacky sack ( named foot bag here ), surfing, skating, frisbee throwing ( or as it is named here, the flying disk, although this event is exempt from the Mega Drive version ) and BMX racing. It was great fun even if sport was not your thing and the soundtrack was pretty hot too. Favourite event? BMX racing, though in all honesty it was the only event I was really very good at! Three years later, 'California Games II' was made but was inferior in comparison to the original.
