Left me a bit cold
bob the moo10 March 2007
I'm rarely sure what to expect from short films and I suppose that is why I do try and take them in, because one does have to approach them with an open mind and see what they are doing. So it was with Jubilee Line but having enjoyed at least the animation of Hope's previous film "Wolf Man" I figured this was worth a look. Substance wise I was lost in this and I wasn't sure what the film was trying to show me. The music was quite haunting though and suggested that I should be moved by what I was seeing – I'm not sure? Perhaps a commentary on the nature of modern society as we all move around one another but if that was it then I have just made a lucky guess.

The animation is technically impressive and perhaps worth seeing if you are a student or animator but it bugged me that I could not appreciate it beyond this technical level. It is hard to describe but there was nothing within it to draw me in or excite me beyond the initial interest in the style. I'm sure many others will have different experiences with this film but for me I was left rather cold by it.
