Sure, it could use some polish, but it has a nice story and is a good independent effort

I love independent short films and have seen hundreds or perhaps more. They are almost exclusively made by young film makers and actors that are struggling to make it in the film industry. Sometimes you see something that is just a bit better than the average such film and you think that perhaps if they keep plugging away at it, they could be recognized by a studio. This is what I thought about CHANCES. It has enough going for it that perhaps someone will offer the folks a chance at something bigger and better. Now this isn't to say this is a perfect production, though almost none of these films are. Instead, they are a chance to work on their craft and become better and better. Here, we have a very interesting plot and I could see a big name film maker noticing the writer and paying them to expand upon it--perhaps in the form of a full-length film.

As for the actors, this is a bit unusual. Instead of the usual 20-somethings, most of the folks in this short are older and far from the glamorous images you often think of in films, though there is definitely a need for such actors. I particularly noticed Steve 'Papaw' Pyatte--not so much because of his acting (which was fine) but because he had a look that was distinctive. Perhaps he could play Hulk Hogan's younger brother or a biker with a heart of gold in some upcoming film.

Overall, a very good early effort by those involved and I wish them luck in the future.
