Best episode of this season yet
adamsosnowski22 August 2021
The episode concentrates on Mary and Ava. The latter still behaves like a spoiled brat (which is weird considering her background) but the former is the real star of this one. Leading by example Mary shows Ava that there is more to life than only thinking about herself and Ava witnesses the beauty of a little local community gathered around the Church and the miracle of life. The scene with the sunset was particulary moving.

The aesthetic of these places were pretty

Warning: Spoilers
I like the places where they shoot here. Mary and Ava becoming a duo and Ava looking everything from Mary's point of view. Ava trying to understand her duty and Mary teaching her how to fight those I'm assuming demon spirit. The effects on the demon spirit were a bit clunky but that's okay. The comedy here was funny I can't stop laughing at the part where Mary kicked Ava off the cliff. I thought Ava would die but I guess she is invulnerable because of the halo. At the end, I think Ava is trying to decide what to do. I hope she does what we all are expecting her to do to be the hero and save the day in the next episode.

Location scout needs a pay rise

Honestly, there is so much you can take away from your time in Warrior Nun world, but the set and locations used are something else. I've never seen a show where the space used has been selected and designed so wonderfully and thoughtfully before.

Never does a place they film feel unrealistic or unreachable. This episode in particular felt almost dream like, a break almost from the horror (don't speak too soon lol). Even shot gun Mary was on vaccation mode for this and I loved it. It had the exact impact on the audience as intended for Ava - a respite. It's needed. The first episodes for Ava are overwhelming. We've seen her run and experience loss and pain. She needed this, we needed this, so she had a chance to catch up with herself.

Mary knows what she's doing. Of course Ava will follow along soon!

Strongly disagree with other review about chemistry
nanic1024 April 2023
This is probably my favorite episode of the season. A previous review said the two characters with the most screen time in this episode, Mary and Ava, had no chemistry, but I couldn't disagree more. I think Mary handles where Ava is at mentally in such a clever and beautifully done way. Just the right balance of giving Ava both grace and space, as well as making us as an audience literally laugh out loud with some of the humorous interactions they have. This episode really allows the value of sisterhood to shine, and sets up the beginnings for a true moral awakening in the following episodes for our protagonist Ava.

Beautiful scenery

A beautifully shot episode, the views were stunning. As for the actual storyline, meh, didn't add too much to the development of the plot. No chemistry between Ava and Mary. Nice action scene.

Waste of Time
Johnny_West18 October 2020
The foul-mouthed, arrogant, and nasty character of Ava (Alba Baptista) spends an episode doing nothing with Shotgun Mary. Shotgun Mary is another member of the order of warrior nuns. She manages to be even more unpleasant than Ava.

The two of them together have no chemistry. Ava seems to spend every second of camera time trying to look like a pretty Barbie doll. No acting ability at all. Shotgun Mary has absolutely no charisma, and does nothing except read every line like a statement. She has no gears to her acting. It is just stating her lines, nothing else.

This episode could have been completely deleted from the TV series without any difference to the continuity. There is no character development for these two characters. They are both one dimensional people, and neither one is capable of growth, maturity, or change.
