Just like another series
WhenAmyMetSalad21 March 2020
This is a continuation of True Terror with George Takei but now hosted by Robert Englund therefor getting its own "series" page for anyone confused. These shows play like Unsolved Mysteries another great series where its a documentary / reenactment. A fun watch if you are into that sort of thing.

Supernatural Unsolved Mysteries

Each episode is a trilogy of "real" stories supposedly from reputable newspapers from the past, seemingly from late 1800's - early 1900's. Do not come here for serious paranormal investigations. Do come for Robert Englund's narration, the campy acting, & plausible stories. It's a fun series if you're into this kind of thing.

Great Series! Haven't Seen a Bad Episode Yet!

I'm a big fan of this style of shows and this is one of the best series I've seen in ages. Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger) is a Great Host for one thing. But, the best thing here is that their 'stories' are more obscure that the ones most shows like this do. I can think of half a dozen similar shows over the past couple years where they all do the same played stories that we've all seen and heard of for years. Not this one. I haven't seen any of these stories on recent tv shows. I remember one of the stories from an old series back in the 1980's-1990's. But that's about it. The others have been new to me. Give it a watch. You won't be disappointed.

Had high hopes
cosmic-teapot1 April 2020
Such a disappointment. I'm a huge cryptozoology fan and I had such high hopes for this show but it failed so badly. Cheesy doesn't even come close to describing how poorly these stories are presented and the fact that the details of the stories don't even match historical accounts is really slack. Just sensationalised entertainment being passed off as something more.

Absolute Rubbish
priestessamie9 June 2020
I am a big fan of the paranormal and unexplained - but this show is just rubbishy stories ten years old night tell each other at a sleep over, No basis fact whatsoever. They tell it like it's true, like they've researched historical records and people's diaries etc.. they embellish the stories left, right and centre with how the person felt, what they thought, what they said etc.. then the story ends with them dying unfound or something -so how the heck did they know any of it then? Simple answer - they didn't! Someone who fancies themselves as a writer made it all up. The whole show is a complete waste of time, and anyone who buys into it beyond 12 minutes into the first episodes must have an IQ lower than dirt.

Ghost stories around a campfire
embmw7 April 2020
There are some fascinating paranormal stories around but for some reason shows about the paranormal are almost always campy, or worse. I had hopes for this one since it was claiming to explore odd occurrences documented in newspapers. What a huge disappointment.

First of all, the presentation is pure camp. This show doesn't explore news items-- it just dramatizes spooky stories of *very* dubious origin. Absolutely no attention is paid to the veracity of the claims or of the sources from which they supposedly originated, and the "eerie" aspects are played up without any mention whatsoever of the much more obvious explanations.

A modern day version of this show would be rejected soap opera actors dramatizing stories from supermarket tabloids. I suppose it'd qualify as "entertainment" to people who get a kick out of hearing silly ghost stories told around a campfire, but if you're looking for serious paranormal investigations this ain't it.

This one gets a generous 2 out of 10 stars for its production values, but a 1 out of 10 for its presentation and investigative quality. All we can do is hope the quarantine doesn't last long enough to make this hokum start to look good.

Absolute rubbish - totally
timberwolf-0337130 June 2022
Campfire stories for 8 year olds and the whole show was also produced by a bunch of 8 year olds. It'll be insulting to compare this show with other authentic paranormal shows that not only the other teams did tons of research AND captured undebunkable evidence, their narrators talk normally unlike this Robert Englund who tried sooooo hard to make the stories sound scary. Oh wait, he actually needs to do that coz the stories suck.

really not worth watching.
laineyd-1558726 January 2023
Honestly, it's rather pathetic. From the posturing host to the hokey stories, I can't find anything positive to say about it.

The first series, one year previous, wasn't that good either. You'd think they would have learned from the reviews it garnered, but I guess not.

Why did the choose Robert Englund to host the show? He's really awful at it, not sure why he continues with the silly posturing.

Boring AF, takes place in 1800s Old West, tedious to watch, I keep looking at the time and pausing the show because Robert England's narration puts me in a stupor
imdb-2528821 April 2024
I'm sorry fans of this actor, I'm sure he's otherwise lovely but his way of delivering his lines here, his voice and the rest of this show puts me to sleep! There's only been 1 episode that I found interesting, so I tried to watch more, but the fact that it's divided into 3 stories doesn't even help to pick up the pace: stories are slow-paced, some of the actors are over the top but I think the most boring thing here is that it takes place in the old west; we're talking 1800s and I have zero affinities for that history! ZZZzzz you can be sure I never had any past lives over there LOL

in conclusion I'm glad it was canceled.
