The lengths to which Dobie goes to attract a new gal pal are simply amazing!
Here, Dobie has fallen in love with a pre-med student called Emily (played by Eileen Janssen). Without too much surprise, she's not too interested in him --until Dobie announces he has only months to live! At last he wins her over, but the terrible rumor grows and grows and everyone actually believes Dobie hasn't much time left?
Concerned Herb and Mrs. G even confine Dobie to his bedroom, treated like a star patient, getting anything he wants --until Dr. Burkhart suggests some TESTS be run on Dobie to see if he can be cured! You know where this is headed, right?
Tell the truth! Another wild lesson to be learned for Dobie, although the BIG, BIG lie did get him to hook up with Emily in the first place. This was the only episode famous Eileen Janssen appeared, who was at one time the most photographed baby in Hollywood, appearing on milk cartons and billboards for various products. As she got older she was cast in many films, also westerns with Roy Rogers.
Look for Burt Mustin, who is hilarious playing Shorty, sort of a senior citizen version of Dobie who also likes to pick up ladies. Burt has some of the best one liners here. Also Howard McNear (ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW) plays crafty undertaker Posthumas J. Simpson who wants to be the first to get Dobie's body when he dies!
Another round of Murphy's Law gone haywire and lots of fun with this cast. Not to be missed. From SEASON 4 remastered.
