How could this still be any good?? Let's think about it: David Lynch is sitting there all dressed up like some kind of a pervert maniac. The children are creepy looking like fighting stray cats in a dog house of hell up a tree, and the whole thing has something nightmarish like a television you cannot burn off. It is creepy, but without the effects (his eyes!! his eyes!!) there is nothing intruiging about the movie next to the mystery, which of course is an effect an sich. Mystery is the process of intrigue. Can I sleep with you tonight??
