Groundbreaking in its day; excellent atmosphere

This primitive game was one of the first CD-ROM games I ever bought for my old 386-40 computer back in the day. While simplistically programmed, little more than a glorified Hypercard stack (or Powerpoint Presentation), this point-and-click adventure game succeeds in creating an immersive otherworldly experience straight out of BLADE RUNNER, DOCTOR WHO, WAR OF THE WORLDS, and BATTLESTAR GALACTICA long before we really had much of any idea what "Space Pirates" really were.

There's plenty of memorable moments scattered around, especially Robot Leach describing the most luxurious ship in the galaxy, the Belshazar. I once had a client at a job by the name of Balthasur, so when people would talk about him, I would adopt the robot voice from this game and say "Ah yes, the BALTHASAR". Nobody would get the reference but I kept at it anyway. Also I learned from this game to never refer to food as "very not bad" or one may not survive to desert, as well as to keep yelling "fake" and "weave" while in a fist fight.

As simplistic as it is, the game's score also finds itself full of tunes than never leave the subconscious. This game could benefit greatly from an update or even a cinematic adaptation as it's just about the right length for it. Unfortunately it'd be missing the best part of the game, getting killed over and over again after doing stupid things a la QUEST FOR GLORY.
