We finally get our first look at Holliday Grainger, one of Screenterrier's favourite British rising stars, as Estella, alongside Jeremy Irvine as Pip.
The new film adaptation of Charles Dickens' Great Expectations, directed by Mike Newell, is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. It was over a year ago that Screenterrier reported on the casting of Holliday Grainger as Estella, the love interest and emotional torturer of the orphan Pip, who is played by young War Horse star Jeremy Irvine.
Holly (represented by Troika) stars as Lucrezia Borgia in Neil Jordan’s TV series The Borgias. She has also had recent roles in Cary Fukunaga’s Jane Eyre and in Bel Ami opposite Robert Pattinson.
Producer Elizabeth Karlsen of Number 9 Films commented "She is just an incredibly fine actor and has the beauty that is needed for Estella as well as an extraordinary technical ability.

An open casting call was held last month to search for the three stars of the new Glasgow-set musical film created by Belle and Sebastian's Stuart Murdoch, God Help The Girl. The lead role of Eve has still to be cast, but Variety has reported that the other two characters have now been cast.
One of Screenterrier's favourite faces to watch, 22 year old Olly Alexander (represented in the UK by Curtis Brown) will play James, the bookish and slim guitarist who accompanies Eve and becomes a mentor to young Cassie. Olly hit our screens with a role in the BBC's delightful school drama Summerhill and went on to star in Gasper Noe's edgy Enter The Void.
13 year old American starlet Elle Fanning will play Cass, the young outsider befriended by Eve and James. Elle has just wrapped filming in London on the lead role of Ginger in Sally Potter's Bomb,...

Filming is schedule to start soon on U Want Me 2 Kill Him?, a new British film, directed by Andrew Douglas.
Inspired by a bizarre real-life stabbing which took place in Altrincham, Manchester in 2003 when a 14 year old, groomed his on-line friend, then 16, with an elaborate matrix of deceit involving a series of fictional identities in a chatroom. The film's story is based on Judy Bachrach's Vanity Fair article about the case and follows a 16 year old boy named Mark who meets Rachel on the Internet and begins an intense online relationship. When Rachel is murdered, the boy and Rachel's brother make plans to avenge her death.
Two of Screenterrier's favourite British rising stars have been cast by the director with a lot of input from executive producer Bryan Singer who, several years ago, had wanted to direct the film himself.

If you caught this week's episode of Being Human, you will have seen fast-rising young Welsh actress Alexandra Roach, playing slowly rotting zombie, Sasha.
Since graduating from Rada last year, Alexandra was snapped up by top agency Troika. With roles already filmed in new BBC comedy series Candy Cabs and ITV's adaptation of best-selling non-fiction crime tome The Suspicions of Mr Whicher, she is currently filming The Iron Lady in which she plays the young Margaret Thatcher to Meryl Streep's older version. The two actresses have apparently been together to catch Thatcher's voice patterns, to make sure their performances are in sync.
Playing opposite her, in the role of the young Dennis (with the older version played by Jim Broadbent) is another up and coming young British actor, 27 year old Harry Lloyd (represented by Curtis Brown). Oxford graduate Harry featured in Screen International's Stars of Tomorrow 2010. Best known for...
