a guy, if being cheated at any point in a relationship, can relate...!
rahi111 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
While hacking CCTV, there is a dialogue 'I can feel you bro'. This is so powerful that, you can feel it. It shows the dark side of relationship where even guys are exploited too. Performance of the leads are good, but the story is powerful. It seems, the writer/director must have gone through the same. 😁😂 Though the plot is predictable, but give it a try, you won't regret. 😊

Guys don't fall for negative review. This movie is a gem and must watch. Both the new comers have acted really well. If this movie would have done by ayushman khuraana it would have been a block buster .

Best debut by both actors
vaibhavkratos1 December 2019
I was really impressed by the trailer. Plot is predictable but still the movie manages to engage you till the end. Movie is full of twists and turns. First half makes root for the protagonist, which makes second half even more thrilling. Vardhan Puri delivers honest performance and he is impressive in debut. Shivalika Oberoi looks cute and delivers amazing performance. She steals the show from Vardhan. So all in all this one is best thrillers of this year. Don't miss this one!

Deliciously twisted!

#FinalVerdict

The sheer thrill of watching a film and not knowing what will happen next is one of the great pleasures offered by producer Dr. Jayantilal Gada's Pen India Ltd. and debutant director Cherag Ruparel's Yeh Saali Aashiqui.

A compelling plot (Cherag Ruparel and Vardhan Puri) that has the potential to keep the viewer captivated, Yeh Saali Aashiqui tantalizes and teases the spectator but is quite unpersuasive at certain junctures as well. You're on the edge of your seat virtually for sure. Movies with such an audacious theme generally ignite debates and this film is sure to meet with severe reactions. The makers ought to be prepared for some bouquets & brickbats. What makes the movie watchable is the raging ambition and commitment.

Yeh Saali Aashiqui is nonconforming. It rebels against the set-patterns, norms and formulas of Bollywood masala flicks. The story (Cherag Ruparel and Vardhan Puri), situations and the treatment of the narrative cannot be compared to any Hindi film witnessed so far. Well crafted with some great moments, Yeh Saali Aashiqui is not just style, but substance as well. There's no stopping this adroit storyteller, Cherag Ruparel. He continues to shock and startle you till the last frame. No one can predict what's in store next.

The casting (Manoj Lila Bhatt) also adds to the experience. Under normal circumstances, the inclusion of characters only results in things getting messier and chaotic. Not here in Yeh Saali Aashiqui! This film is more psychological thriller than bloody blast. As aforementioned, Yeh Saali Aashiqui gleefully shatters clichés and rejects conventional plot turns to surprise you at every available opportunity. The turn of events continues to keep you engrossed, immersed and takes the film to an all-time high. The film has some outstandingly executed sequences. The transformation of a simple boy to a hardened man is amongst the most convincing aspects. The film's nail-biting crescendo is completely justified in the end.

Any roadblocks? Yeh Saali Aashiqui could've been shorter. Also, the slow pacing acts as a deterrent. There is a misogynistic streak that pops up in the second half which was totally unnecessary. If trimmed slightly, it should only prove advantageous.

Debutant Cherag Ruparel is a director to watch! The expertise with which he has handled the tense-filled moments should win him all-round praise. He strikes the right balance between realism and commercialism, between form and content. The background music (Hitesh Modak) is fantastic, enhancing the impact of sequences considerably. Cinematography (Pratik Shah) is amongst the assets of Yeh Saali Aashiqui. The editing (Anirban Dutta) could have been tighter. The dialogues (Cherag Ruparel and Vardhan Puri) are flawless.

Besides a racy screenplay, Yeh Saali Aashiqui rests on two solid performances, that of debutant Vardhan Puri and debutante Shivaleeka Oberoi. Vardhan Puri handles the part like a pro. This film is sure to multiply his fan following tremendously. Shivaleeka Oberoi delivers a knock-out performance. A tricky role that demands histrionics and she takes to her part like a fish takes to water. Jesse Lever is a talent to watch out for, portraying his part with gusto.

All said and done, Yeh Saali Aashiqui is a bold step forward and has some fresh things to say about love, passion and deceit. For the most part, this unusual & gripping thriller keeps you on your toes, curious to see where its twists and turns will lead. Surprise shocker of the year!

Avoid unless nothing else left
Prof_McGonagall27 March 2020
Alarm bell ring if you see such 8+ high rating. This is another desperate effort to launch own kid. To execute the story all kind of logic were thrown out of window and you left with scratching head or pull hairs. Unnecessarily and illogically facts were hidden for most part so that movie can be kept engaging. Everything twisted so conveniently and you keep asking why? Male protagonist was confused what emotion to show and was switching unnecessarily. Good thing are 1. Had good plot but should have worked little more to make it crisp and fill loopholes. 2. Luckily it is not a B Grade kind movie, and dialogues weren't bad. 3. No one acted bad, but neither were excellent and that is fine since all are new faces If you love to much twist then it is for you, doesn't matter how they were imposed.

A twisted take on love and revenge
bruhadbuch2 December 2019
Ye Saali Aashiqui is a well paced movie with subtle twists and turns at times when you least expect it. Starts off a bit slow however picks up decent pace throughout the journey of the movie. You get associated with the characters while you're watching which makes it relatable at one point in time. Yes the suspense is interesting and while you may think you're aware of what's happening and it's pretty predictable, and that's exactly when you see the twister.

Beautifully crafted movie and Vardhan is a real class act throughout the movie. Being his first he's definitely made his grandfather proud and I'm sure he has a long way to go in Bollywood. The music is decent and Hawa Banke is really a breath of fresh air so hats off to Hitesh for the beautiful composition sung exceptionally well by Armaan Malik. (Special mention to Sanki). Do watch this movie at least once to experience the magic created. Super proud of my brother Cherag whose hard work is really showing in the final product. Best wishes for many more to come.... Cheers 🥂🥂🥂

Definitely a 3.5* out of 5 from my side.... Go watch it in cinemas near you nowwww....

I'm not overwhelmed
Hussain-AL-Naseer20 April 2020
After hearing lots of praises from critiques and masses finally watched this dark revenge drama. Films starts with normal lover story which takes an ugly turn on its 50th minute onwards. The good part includes the dark Psycho drama and how Aurat ka chakkar ruins ones life apart from that all the things were pretty ordinary from performances to direction to its storytelling. Character depth was not fully built as unveiling plot twists wont leads towards the event to give you thrill rather it would convey you the message that it has all happened in past which you should know so that current situation can be justified. In the end i had mixed feeling about the movie as it doesn't totally disappoints but also I'm not overwhelmed

Revenge dish well served!!
nadkarnisumeet29 March 2020
Yeh Saali Aashiqui review :

I have been catching up on films which I missed in 2019. While most of them made me feel fortunate to have skipped them in theatres, Yeh Saali Aashiqui turned out to be a hidden gem.

An underrated film, it came and went almost unnoticed in November last year at a time when the audience was busy applauding Akshay Kumar's bald pate in Housefull 4. Bala Bala, Shaitaan Ka Saala!!

Anyway, this psychological thriller cum revenge drama boasts of completely new cast and crew with Amrish Puri's grandson Vardhan making his acting debut.

Starting as a regular college romance, Yeh Saali Aashiqui gradually turns in to a twisty cat and mouse game between it's two lead characters - Saahil (Vardhan) and Mittee (Shivaleeka Oberoi). A game of deceit, crime and inteqaam is unravelled which keeps you on the edge right till the end.

Newbie director Cherag Ruparel shows tremendous promise and has helmed this taut engaging twister efficiently even with a shoe string budget at his disposal. Particularly, the Chainsaw sequence has a Hollywood feel to it. Kudos!

The production values ain't that great but are excusable in view of the strong content. Background score is a positive factor.

Vardhan Puri is competent in a complex role. His post interval act reminds us of Shahid Kapoor's intensity in Kabir Singh (2019). Shivaleeka Oberoi impresses in the films second half when her character undergoes an unexpected transformation.

Overall, Yeh Saali Aashiqui is recommended. The title may not be catchy or inspiring (I would've preferred the name 'Sanki' after its song) but the film certainly is. Watch it online on Zee 5.

Regards, Sumeet Nadkarni

Childish acting, Below avg direction, immature movie making, easily predictable... But the story could make a serious good movie... The actresa/villain with beautiful look but without any acting skill.
