If you could step into your friends’ minds to see how they truly think and feel, would you?
This is the question at the center of the upcoming Netflix horror comedy, “It’s What’s Inside.” Executive produced by Academy Award nominee Colman Domingo, the film marks the directorial debut of Greg Jardin, who also wrote the script and has a long history at Netflix after having directed promos for “Thirteen Reasons Why” and “When They See Us.”
The official synopsis for the film reads: “A group of friends gather for a pre-wedding party that descends into an existential nightmare when an estranged friend arrives with a mysterious game that awakens long-hidden secrets, desires, and grudges.”

In October 1973, John Lennon — the man who seven years earlier whipped the Bible Belt into the Beatle Belt by proclaiming the Fab Four were “more popular than Jesus”— came off uncharacteristically reserved when discussing his latest LP. “The album’s called Mind Games, and it’s, well, just an album,” he told Melody Maker. “It’s not a political album or an introspective album. Someone told me it was ‘like Imagine with balls,’ which I liked a lot. … There’s no deep message about it.”

Actor, producer and director Colman Domingo didn’t set out to expand inclusion in TV’s travel genre with his new AMC series You Are Here. But alongside other celeb hosts like John Leguizamo, Domingo is bringing a new spin to the format that broadens notions of how we come to understand a place.
“There is something kind of revolutionary about it — that I’m in these spaces,” the Fat Ham producer and Fear the Walking Dead star says of hosting a travel TV show as a queer Black man.
Domingo’s identity — not just his race and sexuality, but his professional and personal trajectories— shapes every narrative choice on screen. That includes which cities he ventures to, and once there, which people he meets and which activities he engages in over the course of the four-part first season.

Happy Juneteenth! The holiday that commemorates the emancipation of Black people in the United States from slavery is here, and that means the official start of summer is just a few days off. In a normal year, scripted TV shows would be busy ramping up production in preparation to release new episodes for the fall schedule.
But the Writers Guild of America is currently on strike, ensuring this won’t be a normal year. The strike has put a halt to the production of most scripted TV shows, which means they’ll be delayed or see their seasons shortened when the strike is resolved. The good news is, there are still plenty of new titles heading to streaming this week to help keep your mind off what might be a dismal fall lineup.

So: We need to talk about the Teens. The decade that’s about to end. The one that began with Katy Perry doing an unironic Kenny G revival and is ending with Kanye West doing an unironic Kenny G revival. A decade full of iconic stars: Beyoncé, Taylor, Rihanna, Kendrick, Kacey, Robyn, Cardi, Lorde. But there’s a question haunting the Twenty-Teens: Was this a decade or not? It’s certainly been an era — no question about that. The Teens were loaded with eras, trends, moments, stories, generations, heroes, villains.

On Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, Nick and Diane Marson were complete strangers who both happened to be on Continental Airlines flight C03. Nick, a British native, was leaving his home in London for a business trip in Houston, while Diane was returning to her native Texas after a family vacation in the U.K.
Then unspeakable tragedy struck. Terrorists flew two passenger jets into the World Trade Center in New York; another into the Pentagon, close to Washington, D.C.; and another in a field in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. The moving documentary You Are Here shows the outpouring of love in one corner of the world on Sept. 11, 2001. On Wednesday, it will play in theaters across the nation to mark the 18th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.
Amid the horror of the tragedy — which claimed the lives of 2,997 people and forever changed countless others — 38 planes heading to the U.S. were diverted to the small Canadian town of Gander, Newfoundland, known as the eastern-most point of North America. There, locals united to comfort, feed and shelter the 6,600 displaced passengers — more than half the town’s population at the time.
