I don't understand this show anymore
mvizsla9 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Why everything is so confusing, there's six episodes left and we don't actually know what the big bad is trying to do, it's like there's no big bad, at the end of the last season they said "leviathan is coming", well it's not arriving yet let me tell you. And with Lena, what the hell is happening it's so ooc, it's an amazing character and they are sidelining her into a lab while her brother takes advantage of her weaknesses, it sounds like abuse to me, they should fix this instead of treating a character like that so bad. Not to mention the very own supergirl, pushing her and william so desperately it's kinda hard to see, like if you want to put someone with the main character, you HAVE TO DEVELOP THAT CHARACTER, not just introduce, make him treat her bad at first and then force the other characters to force kara to get to a date with someone she barely knows (sounds like a requirement being a jackass to kara at first btw) and that "romantic" undertones they made when supergirl and william shared scenes together, SO, it's romantic when supergirl and william share a scene together and there's romantic music behind, BUT it's just two besties who love each other so much and miss each other so much, when it comes to lena and kara, seeing pictures of each other while romantic music sounds behind huh. BTW NIA NAL IS EVERYTHING, SHE DESERVES MORE STORYLINES, HER CHARACTER IS AMAZING AND HER POWERS ARE THE BEST.

Great Episode Though Misunderstood
rebeccaj-9002823 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The Lex plot is still tiresome and though Lena he has been convinced she is helping mankind, it appears more like she is being held hostage by her brother and doing his bidding and doesn't even realize it. I agree that the VR world is as addictive as any drug, is unhealthy, and is becoming a villian unto itself. Is it being used to create minions for Lex, Leviathon, or both? As for Kara and William, lets give it a rest, ok? At first, I thought this was an odd couple. Why? I'm Team Mon-El like most people but let's be realistic. He's gone and Kara needs to move on with her life. And does the fandom not remember Back From the Future: Part Two? Kara had decided to go out with William in that episode. She literally walked up to his desk intending to say yes but he gave her the puzzle for her grandmother and she realized she would have to begin the relationship with a lie so she turned him down. It wasn't because she didn't like him. And he was very respectful (though confused) when she turned him down and very kind to her after. When she went out with him later, she simply changed her mind. We all have a right to do that and how many of you HAVE actually DONE that?! She wasn't forced. And also, let's consider Melissa Benoist's recent confession regarding IPV. She participated in the Women's March in Washington. She has worn "Feminist" t-shirts. I believe she would never participate in writing that would compromise her personal belief system to that degree and especially regarding that subject matter. You people who keep accusing the writers of pushing a "forced" or "sexual harassment" agenda are wrong, IMO. And I also think the accusations disrespect the show and Melissa Benoist in general.

I'm tired
cmontiel-145619 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
We did not see Lena plotline avance, they stuck in the same thing its getting boring, what the hell was that William/Kara thing? Forced and unnecessary. I haven't seen what leviathan is capable off, lex is sucking Lena character development and storyline. Alex don't have arc and dansen doesn't exist anymore. Nia don't have an arc. Kara is getting weaker, she's becoming so poweress physically talking. What the hell? We have 6 episodes and Kara and Lena don't talk anymore. How are they gonna fix this without forcing? They wasting time and storyline.

I always enjoy seeing the SG ladies together and it's great Alex helps Kara with advice. SG was great getting through to the villain by talking and reaching her feelings.

Nonsense episode
vlondon109 March 2020
Really tired of the non nocere project and Lex manipulating Lena, also what kind of nonsense is the pairing of Kara and William, it makes no sense, their chemistry is non existent, they keep repeating plots from when Monel was on the show, oh yes, Kara rejected him then everyone convinced her that she should give him a chance, I don't care about his character at all, he has a plain personality and doesn't contribute to anything on the main plot, about that, what the hell is the main plot, the writing is all over the place, I tried to stick around for this show and because I thought that it was feminist but it's nothing of sorts, time to say good-bye.

Dull William Must Go!!!
theodyssey-245879 March 2020
It is beyond logic that this random character lacking any interesting backstory or purpose is thrown at the lead as a love interest.....worse still the chemistry with Benoist is 0. Nobody... literally nobody likes this character as a love interest, and the 100th episode just made it even worse by clearly demonstrating what real chemistry looks like. In just a couple of scenes with Mon-El we saw the difference and it was glaring. Not to mention the off the charts chemistry with Lena. Basically the show-runners have made a colossal mistake not seeing the total lack of chemistry, but compounded the error by building a character that fails to attract any audience. At this point Supergirl is better off on her own than with William. Please stop forcing this pairing with this boring character as the love interest before it's too late.

Solid Episode
am93649 March 2020
We got some Dansen moments, Alex and J'onn moments, Danvers Sisters moments (I have missed those dearly), and some development for the Andrea and Kara/William plotlines. This is probably in my top three episodes so far this season.

I loved this episode!!
princessunara-991689 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I loved this episode!! What a beautiful classic #Supergirl scene when she talks that lady down! It reminded me of the 'Human for a day' in season one where a powerless Kara talked a gunman down.. it's just so amazing how they r going back to basics. I love this version of Kara coming out again. Great DanversSisters content too! Wonderful episode. Thank you.

I dont know what happened with this show
karin_doddema9 March 2020
I loved this series from the start. Melissa Benoist is the perfect actress for this role in my opinion. Season three was messy but i loved season four. Kara was the strong superhero all season and had her group of friends to support her.

Now season five is a mess.. they started out with their main focus on the lena and kara relationship. As a straight woman.. i could see what was happening... I love the Lena and Kara dynamic but i feel like the show writers go out of their way to not give them screentime together. It happened in season three, in the beginning of season four and in the second half of this season its worse then ever.

Katie McGrath is a great actress and i love watching her. Its sad to see that there is absolutely no storyline for her in the second part of this season. We only get her in her lab tinkering on a project but the results of her tinkering will never be shown. So.. in conclusion we have no idea what she is doing but it has something to do with making people nicer...this storyline takes far to long with no progress and it was getting boring four episodes ago.

What i loved about supergirl was the fact that the show was about...SUPERGIRL.. i dont even know what this show is about the second half of the season but there are way to many characters and its all over the place. Some of the main casts members are completely sidelined and missing for a lot of episodes. We havent seen Nia in forever, Kelly? And its sad because the only canon relation in this show has no storyline or development.

The only thing that is obviously happening is the "no-homo" storyline for Kara. The writers of this show made Kara and Lena the main couple of this show. A lot of people ship them and a few people dont but the FACT is that the show gave them the main focus for their 100th episode. And the beginning of this season they made it obvious that this friendship is a lot more then just best friends. To bring in a dude, with no storyline only to no-homo Kara is lazy writing, heartbreaking for a lot of fans and its simply absurd.

To give character central episodes is fine but i dont care for characters who i dont know. Andrea rojas.. what is she adding to the plot? I havent seen her in forever and suddenly she's there for half of an episode. I would rather watch Alex. Because Alex is the second main character on this show and her whole storyline about wanting to have a kid just vanished into thin air. The william character is taking over Nia's storyline and he doesnt add anything to the plot either.. in my opinion they should have had andrea and william as guest characters.

I hope they will bring their focus back on Kara and being supergirl. Then second their focus should be on the danvers sisters and their relationship. Third Alex her story with her love interest and development. Fourth Lena Luthor character growth and her relationship with Kara. This should he the ground of the show and work from there. Add Nia in the Catco scenes to be a partner for her journalism and lose all the other characters.

And if Kara stays single it would be fine because she is an independent strong woman. But if they truly want her in a hetero relationship PLEASE make some effort for a good love story and cast someone who melissa has onscreen chemistry with. This is absolutely painful to watch.

Solid episode
racheljoy-397719 March 2020
While some parts were confusing (like Lex and Brainy's ongoing plot, although I hope that will be explained later and will be finished in a satisfying way) and some of the editing between scenes was jarring/didn't make the episode come off as very smooth, this episode gave Alex a good storyline and we also got more of the Danvers sisters interacting with each other and J'onn in this one, as well as most of our main cast having heroic moments, and I can't complain about that.

Also Classic/Earnest Brainy is the best and I would gladly take him flirting with our Brainy in every episode, thank you very much, and Alex and Kelly are the best girlfriends and I love them.

Supergirl is not sending a super message to young girls
MazeMadnessWriter9 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Reviewing this episode in the context of International Women's Day, this episode is disappointing at best, and irresponsible at worst. The writers and creators of this show have conveyed a message that despite saying no to a potential love interest, and expressing doubts to friends and family, this does not matter. This concept is quite concerning, especially being portrayed via their main character.

Over two episodes, Kara has discussed her uncertainty regarding William with her friends and family and instead of listening and offering advice, the writers have had her support network push her into saying yes, and in a highly OOC way particularly for Alex. Even worse, despite being told no, William did not accept rejection, and not only did the writers not even try to hide this, it was flat out celebrated as a good thing at the end of the episode with laughters of 'were my texts too much'.

This was very uncomfortable to watch. Too often women are put into uncomfortable situations and do not feel they can reject their male counterparts. Watching Kara being reduced to this too-kind, she-must-mean-yes character, particularly on International Women's Day is quite frankly abysmal and the show should feel less than proud.

In the context of season 5, this episode FINALLY felt like the only one that was moving the plot along. This season has been slow and all over the place. Too many times we've seen Supergirl, the 'Girl of Steel' being powerless against whatever villain the writers pluck out next and frankly it's boring. She is Supergirl for a reason.

Why
Nicole223319 March 2020
Supergirl showrunners need to stop pushing Kara with men she says she doesn't want to go out with.

Other than that MAJOR flaw, an okay episode

Look i get that 13 was kind of a fan service, a thank you for the years of support but this episode of lena still being under lex's thumb and kara being forced on another relationship she instinctively dont care about is just frustratingly bad.

Quite an ironic episode for a "feminist" show to air on Int. Women's day
daniellavmc9 March 2020
So, on International Women's Day! Supergirl taught me that no means yes! and that even after rejecting a man, if they continue to pursue you, that automatically makes him a sweet guy... quite the lesson to teach young girls. as a 16 yo myself, I wasnt a fan of it. Also, youre ruining lena's character. The purpose of her entire story was to make her somebody outside of her own family, to allow kara and the superfriends help her overcome past family trauma and succeed. but instead you brought her abuser(s) back and continue to damage her character. Quite the ep to air today considering the date. shame.

SUERGIRL OR PRE-SUPERMAN?
winnietanhuini9 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
So, what is the main plot of this season again? Are we gonna fight Leviathan or are we just have to watch Lex bully Lena a little bit, Lena being frustration a little bit, and then SUPERGIRL wonder if she want to like the guy (not feeling, just plenty of think about like/dislike), and her BADASS AGENT SISTER just want to have chat with her sister and meet her girlfriend like 2 sec and then gone. Ahhhh is there any other hero in this show? I don't know, who's dreamer? What's her day job again? You mean she working with Kara and William? I'm sorry if a several reporters doesn't do report then what kind of reporter are they? Also, is Brainy function well? I thought he's a genius, can predict almost anything, what is he doing in this season again? Last and foremost, WHEN WILL LEX LUTHOR BE GONE? THIS IS NOT SUPERMAN SHOW!

wait, I forgot, what's green martian doing now again? I thought he has a brother? Is the plot have been threw away already? I forgot, my bad. WHAT THE HELL IS THE PLOT IN THIS SEASON SERIOUSLY????

Despite them destroying her character me and my mates are still watching the show because of Katie McGrath but i hope she knows that we tried deeply we did to stick around for her but we can't anymore the writing is daunting and terrifying hope she gets a better project than Supergirl!

Anti Woman
karn-810839 March 2020
So apart from the forced relationship they have kara being pushed on, a relationship that has no chemistry or foundation mind you, we also have Lena being emotionally manipulated and isolated by Lex. Both women are kept at bay by their siblings and push them towards unhealthy choices. But it's a feminist show! Happy International Women's Day! Remember to tell your daughters if she doesn't like a guy and says no, and he's insisting his advances give him a chance still !!

William will end this show
theodyssey-245879 March 2020
Nobody and I mean NOBODY likes William as a love interest for Kara. The character lacks real purpose no backstory, the romance is forced and totally out of nowhere this random dull guy is paired with the lead? The 100th episode made it worse because it highlighted what real chemistry looks like, a few short scenes with Mon-El easily demonstrated the glaring difference, and then there is the off the charts chemistry with Lena. Basically if they want to save this show without their ENTIRE fanbase, they need to ditch William end of story. Whether Supergirl ends up alone, with Lena, or Mon-El comes back no longer matters.....they just need to get rid of William because no one can stand to watch this pairing.

Happy International Women's Day...
shipperofships9 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Nothing says happy international women's day like treating all your female characters like crap, right?

This episode had potential. It really had! We could have gotten Supergirl actually guarding Andrea Rojas. We could have gotten Lena finally realizing that what she's doing is wrong and start her road to redemption. We could have gotten Dansen having actual screentime that is more than 2 minutes. And we could have gotten Nia being the amazing reporter that we all know she is. But what did we get? Supergirl being weak and fawning over a guy she refused to go go out with. Dansen having screentime comparable to a camera flash. And Lena being so far gone that she believes in words coming from her brother who repeatedly manipulated her, used her and tried to kill her.

Watching this show it's so clear to see that men are the majority that makes decisions regarding storylines. And if a woman came up with the William/Kara storyline, I feel so sorry for her deep-rooted misoginy. What kind of message the show wants to send to it's viewers going with the same kind of storyline for the THIRD time? Especially, knowing how the other two times were badly received. Who thought it was a good idea to write this? Despite getting rejected, the guy still bombards the girl with presents and texts until the girl caves and agrees to go out with him. Don't you see how wrong that is? NO SHOULD ALWAYS MEAN NO! And on top of that, having the sister of that girl push her towards the guy, despite not even knowing him that well? A mess!

Kara has lived through so much trauma this season alone but she never talks about it. She lost her mom for the second time. She never talks about it. She lost her home planet for the second time. She never talks about it. She lost EVERYONE during Crisis. She never talks about it. She practically lost her best friend and is on a war path with her. But she NEVER talks about it! You know what she talks about? A guy! A guy that had been a jerk to her (I don't care it was a cover-up and different earth). A guy she doesn't really know because they shared almost no screentime. A guy who she rejected but felt guilty and pressured enough to finally say yes. Supergirl is supposed to be this great strong kickass woman but I don't see it.

Also, if they wanted to put William and Kara together they should have done chemistry reading between Staz and Melissa before hiring him because they have no chemistry. Zero. I feel second-hand embarrassment watching their interactions. Staz seems like a great guy, the cast loves him and I feel so sorry for him because they did him SO dirty with this role.

Lena... My heart breaks for the character because this is not the Lena we all know and it's so clear that her storyline is written purely for drama purposes and is so ooc that it's sad to watch. I feel so bad for Katie who was practicality isolated from the main cast and thrown into this mess of a storyline. The whole non nocere arc could have been easily solved in 5a; we would have gotten Lena being crazy angry at everyone for a few episodes, her going through with the project, Superfriends stopping her and then in 5b she could have gotten her redemption arc. Instead we have this dragged out plot that feels very repetitive and just not thought through. Lena needs someone to wake her up and help her but she has NO ONE because everyone abandoned her as soon as things started to go bad and I am so disappointed with Superfriends for doing that. She is so far gone that she trusts and believes in words coming from her brother. The same brother who tried to kill her. The same brother who put her down her whole life. The same brother who used and manipulated her multiple times. But she is in such bad place emotionally that she'll take any type of reassurance and praise, even if it's coming practically from the devil himself.

I am so over the Lex storyline. Why did he even come back after Crisis? What for? He does nothing except from stealing screentime from others? He's supposed to be this amazing guy who everyone likes on this new Earth but we don't see it. It would be fun to see more of his dynamic with Supergirl, him being the boss and her having have to work for him but we don't see it. It's like they dropped him to Supergirl after Crisis just to hold him over until S&L starts filming and it feels so unnatural and forced.

I wanted to see more of Dansen. They are such a cute couple but we see so little of them! The dumpling scene was so cute and Alex rescuing Kelly was amazing but I want more! You can't boast about having LGBT rep and then give us crumbs.

Andrea Rojas... It's good to know she's still Acrata. I thought the writers forgot about that. I'd love to see more of the character because she has a lot of potential and Julie Gonzalo is simply just gorgeous to look at!

I have no expectations for this show anymore. Even the next episode doesn't seem so exciting. We will get a dash of Dreamer storyline but I can bet that the majority of the episode will be focussing on Kara going out with William.

What's the saddest is the fact that this show proved they CAN write good episodes. The 100th episode was amazing and I just don't get why can't we get content like this every week? It's like they want to make us angry and frustrated on purpose.

I feel so sorry for the cast because they really do deserve better. They are one of the most talented and well-knit cast on the cw yet they are treated like that. So sad...

All in all, I'm disappointed but not surprised. This show really is on its downward spiral and it almost feels intentional because to be that bad you have to put some work in it. I guess, with the new Superman show coming, the showrunners just stopped caring about Supergirl if they can have their golden boy.

I feel so stupid because every Sunday I tune in expecting the show to do better and every single time I get disappointed.
