[8.5] The medium skin "progeniture"
cjonesas23 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 8: A soapy devilish colorful episode involving various main and supporting characters, having developments moving the story toward the "big" revelation, testing relationships and friendships alike with pinches of salt and sugar here and there, beautiful setting, eye-flashing costumes, marvelous photography, filming and bright score.

Daphne got what she longed for, at last. The big reveal is a bit incredulous, but it doesn't matter at this fictional point!

Fantastic, exciting, aesthetically pleasing, modern twist
sunkissedandsunshines1 January 2021
I love the development of their ruse and relationship. The heat and passion so real and raw. Eloise's reflection of modern feminism. The twist on race and class. It is one of the best series i've seen!!

Stunning series

Warning: Spoilers
From the first episode I was hooked. I haven't read the books so I had no idea about the storyline or even that this was actually based on a book series. I love these time period dramas. So after I finished watching this season I was quit surprise to whom the notorious Lady Wistledown is. But although it was revealed to us the ton still has no idea who the author is, am I right? I hope that it will be revealed later to the ton in the series. But to let the cat out of the bag now would spoil the fun. Good ending for a nice romance. I'm glad Simon did not left Daphne otherwise he must ended up a very unhappy man. Although the order of the children born to them was reversed I still like the fact that they had a son. (And his father did not win). Giving this a 10. Music was good. The plot excellent. An the chemistry between the lead actors were superb. Really a nice show. Love it.

Warning: Spoilers
Favorite scene with

Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) - Enjoying the rain. Telling Simon that she found and read the letters which he wrote to his father. Telling him that she loves all of him.

Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) - Warning Genevieve about her brother and "Lady Whistledown".

Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) - Colin apologizing to her. When she starts to pour her heart out to him, he tells her that he's leaving in the morning for his Tour. She inspired him to leave for Tour. Very upset and quickly hurrying away from him when he asks her to dance.

Unmasked

Kudos for the show for unmasking Lady Whistledown in the series final moments, indulging the audiences curiosity and causing a reshuffle of the series events. Good costuming and decent acting.

everything was great but then the last 10 minutes...

Warning: Spoilers
Ok so I'm not gonna be so hard on the show.no one was expecting anything crazy and it all went well and they put everything to gather in a nice way but the unmasking of the lady Whistledown... was awful. it doesn't make any sense how could a 15-16 year old like Penelope know anything about marriage or have such insights on matters that are that profound it just doesn't make ANY sense.

Does Phoebe Dynevor ever....

Shut up? Non ending, boring speeches. One after the other. It is nothing but soft-core porn with a terrible story line. How many times do we have to watch her get laid? Woke me when it's over!!!!!

Endings and New Beginnings

Warning: Spoilers
Lady Whistledown narrates that we don't know how a marriage truly is behind closed doors. We get shots of the Featheringtons, the wrestler and his wife, the Queen with her mentally ill husband. There are hardships to overcome.

Simon and Daphne are getting painted but there is a distance between the two. Only when the painter requests they get closer and perhaps Simon put his arm on Daphne do they look into each other's eyes. It is a beautiful moment and the painter says the very picture of devotion.

Eloise is completely in the dark of Benedict + Madam Delacroix's true relationship. Anthony and Benedict exchange knowing looks and Anthony tells him if he is content then good.

The fourth sister comes back from her studies.

Anthony eyes Siena at a wrestling match. She has smoky eyes and her hair has many ribbons. She looks so feminine. Anthony and Siena stare at each other and then they end up having sex in the back. Anthony has his arms up leaning against a ladder and Siena rips off the buttons holding his top together.

They later have sex in a bed and Anthony asks Siena to come to his sister's last ball of the season. Siena knows she is an outcast and does not think it is a good idea. Anthony is shirtless and his abs look amazing with the tight pants.

Daphne reads the letters Simon wrote as a child to his father and learns how difficult of a childhood he had. How Simon has daddy issues.

Daphne is much more understanding and places herself near the duke. She eats breakfast at the same table with him and smiles at him often.

Mr. Featherington is ecstatic about his winnings from gambling on the wrestling match.

Daphne and Simon watch as their servants prepare for the ball. They look at their beautiful painting together.

Later we see Mr. Featherington go to what looks like a club and the two men he gambled with has a bottle of poison for him.

Marina has chosen to accept her love's brother and leaves by carriage.

The Featheringtons are devastated over Mr. Featherington's loss. Ms. Featherington is handed a note with the name of the man to take their estate.

We see Penelope Featherington smiling to herself like she knows something as Lady Whistledown narrates. Is Penelope the author?

A servant rushes in the room to be of assistance. Simon and Violet stand at the sides of Daphne as she pushes. She is giving birth and it is a boy. Simon says they should keep with tradition and his name should start with an "A".

Soapy ending
lluca-4774813 January 2021
This show got better in the second half and gave the impression that it could become meaningful. A soapy ending just made it as cheap as it looked in most other episodes.

Really, we headed this?
sonjagodbout14 January 2021
I guess the writers ran out of things to say, do i guess it was time to sex it up. Just tired of shows going down this path. Done with it, because it will only get worse.

This show is terrible! Boring! Moronic!
hpcmakeup5 April 2021
Ugh!! What a waste of time. The same stupid overly dramatic speeches over and over again followed by a sex scene. Repeat. Repeat..One of the worst shows I have for some reason watched. No one is likeable. Everyone has the worst hair and makeup I have ever seen. Visually irritating and mind numbingly stupid.

Do not watch!
