It's hard to fault Disgaea 2 for being a retread of Disgaea: Hour of Darkness when the original was brilliant. In fact, Disgaea 2 is the superior product with a more focused story and story line levels, better balanced character classes, and more extensive post-game. The core strategy elements from the first game remain albeit with minor enhancements which already justifies hundreds of hours of gameplay. The only thing Disgaea 2 lacks is the novelty of the first and Adell and Rozalin lack the appeal of Laharl and Etna as main characters but there's still plenty of humor and goofiness. The expanded Dark Hero Days offers even more though rather easy levels.
